Grass track ramps/features - what do you want?

We're lucky enought to have a guy that can build pretty much anything for the new track. The surface is grass and we're looking for a couple of top feature to build out of wood, any suggestions?

Once the grass track is up and running we'll be speaking to the landowner about a second astro track. For this year grass only, with manmade wood features. Next year we'll start landscaping.

Sounds all good matey, will watch this space then

As for obstacles, the usual are large tabletop style jumps and little kickers.

How about a 90 degree built up tabletop corner, they are usually a favoured feature indoors?

We built ours in sections for Arena X venue so its easy to move about and store when needed.

Or this went down well yesterday but might be hard to get level outdoors or store:

How about a rhythm section, like 3 sets of small doubles in a row, with a short run up will help insure people cant jump more than 1 double at a time.

i like a nice banked high speed sweeper, although not really one to make from wood

Banked curve like Teeside used to have was always awesome, just make sure it's painted / coated with something in case it rains...

Raised sections, drop offs, step-ups, table tops, cross over jumps... all pretty good fun!

Would be good if someone could create an authentic "Whoops" style section like a supercross track, but one where they're fairly shallow so you can do them in 2's, 3's or 4's or just skip across them without too much hassle....

we did this at neo last year and no one apart from the yanks and top boys could do it , woops that you could double double single and only the very best could do it , so we ended up taking one out so the trippled and then singled , marshelling was a mare too as no one would back out of trying to make them so someone would of got hurt had we not changed it.

Nooo - IMO there's too many Astro tracks around - whilst I appreciate the advantages of the more consistant & wear resistant characteristic of the synthetic surface, I much prefer the more forgiving & progressive nature of 'real' grass... just so long as race meetings can be held a suitable intervals to let it recover.

P.S a corner table would be cool... but it might be worth covering wooden ramps with carpet or astro - so that you maintain some sort of grip if/when it rains ;)

I can imagine it's a bit dangerous with 8th cars weighing as much as they do, but I'm thinking of really shallow ones so the cars do get off the ground but not to a dangerous point....

Not sure who else will remember this far back but at the Euro's we did in Sweden (2000) they had an awesome little section going diagnoally left slightly away from the rostrum before getting to the furthest point and that worked really well - there were a few different lines you could take but you could double, triple or triple, double them - Never getting more then about 1 foot off the ground but was so good when you got it right lap after lap.... You didn't then lose stupid amounts of time if it went wrong either as they were quite forgiving
