Not the case, i have used a 4.5 motor with a gear diff without issue other than wear rate on the cheap material out drives, but the ball diffs are still perfect with ceramic balls and tungsten thrust race.. If any oil gets in the car its not going to help the belts, i think a thick grease would be a better idea on your diffs, plus think the material will not wear out quickly like the standard zx outdrives.
