Losi Mini 8ight carbon chassis covers
I've recently been making some self adhesive chassis protectors for various 1/10th buggies to help protect the alloy chassis' from damage outdoors and after a few requests i've just finished the Losi mini 8ight version.
They're available in a clear tough vinyl very similar to the usual chassis protection sheets and also in a thinner textured carbon fibre effect vinyl. All the covers will come pre cut to the contour of the chassis and all the screw holes will be cut out meaning that you can work on the car without having to remove them. For maximum protection the clear version is by far the strongest and will help stop almost all damage to the chassis but for the racer who wants it just to look real good the thinner carbon version is the way to go. I'm selling these for £3.00 each plus £1.25 postage (i combine all postage) Anyone interested or requests send me a PM.. Thanks for looking.... |

I can confirm that the Carbon look is fantastic! (As I'm the recipient of Carbon protector No.1 - with free fitting ).
As per all of the other protectors that Andy has produced, the fit is perfect. |

Perfect
Ordered the clear and the CF effect on Monday and they arrived today - great service.
I was a little nervous applying the clear onto the chassis as I could see myself bodging it and getting the holes mis-aligned, but starting at the side and working across it went on very easily and all the holes lined up perfectly I only took off the plastic chassis sides and kept all the other bolts in place then removed the bolt hole cut outs with a hobby knife - they all came out perfectly. You need to be careful as you roll the backing off to make sure you don't get air bubbles and that the front and rear "wings" line up properly too. I then over layed the much thinner carbon layer. I removed all the cut out before laying the sheet on as they are really hard to see on the black. It is also essential to make sure you get it the right way round ! Laying his was more difficult as it is thinner but again it all lined up perfectly. I think the effect is stunning and although it cant be seen it's nice to know the protection is there. If you are going to do this mod(?) then definitely check and check again before committing the stick as it bonds very well to the chassis and it would be a real Homer moment if you had it back to front ! Is it necessary on an aluminium chassis - probably not but it is cool. Andy is a really nice bloke to deal with too, which is always nice - highly recommended. |

Thanks for the positive feedback.
The other option with the clear sheet is the leave all the screw holes covered and just "flick" them out when you need access. This is certainly something i do with the buggies outdoors as it keeps the screw heads from filling with dirt. Either way, the carbon does look the business. |

"The other option with the clear sheet is the leave all the screw holes covered and just "flick" them out when you need access." - ah crap, now you tell us ! That's a great idea for others.

Received mine today next day delivery I did the same as Neil put the clear on first then the carbon, the underside of my chassis now looks better than it did when new. As per Neil's review I took the side guards off then started at the side lined it up and laid it on, same with the carbon although the screw cut outs stayed on the backing sheet on the carbon one so I didn't have to pick them out afterwards.
Thanks Andy brilliant |
