what type of paints, waterbased or solvent? cleaning between colors or has the paint been left in the brush for a long time?

bit of thinner in the cup, backwash (finger over nozzle and pull/press trigger), wipe out with paper towel, repeat if necessary.
depending on the color and the next color to go in you might not even need to clean between colors.
