Default Which Nitro engine and pipe should I buy

Hi all,

I've recently bought an Xray 808 nitro roller with the intention of breaking it up as spares for my 808 brushless.........however..... I'm considering delving into the world of Nitro, as altho the brushless is nice and low maintainence, I do enjoy the nitro scream at the track. If I was to go for the nitro option, I'd like to buy something thats first of all reliable and will start with very little faffing around. Secondly, the running in period shouldn't require an expert! And finally, I intend only to bash, but if I get addicted then I'd like to have something I can race with (I belive this means I need a .21 ???).

I have previously owned a Hyper 7 .28 with the Mach engine, and I have to say, it was pretty crude and never really ran properly, so promptly got sold (it annoyed me). I figure if I buy something a little bit better made, maybe I won't have the same problems with running?

So I have a few questions

1 - Which Nitro engine and pipe do people reccomend?
2 - Someone from a modelshop (Either MB models/Modelsport/apex) told me that my 808 wont take a pull start, that it would need to be starter box)....anyone know if this is correct? I'd prob favour the starter box option anyhow.
3 - Is there anything else to consider with the 808?

Some of the setups I've been reccommended are below ;

Thanks in advance

If i was you to start of with i would personally go for the Fastrax Enduro engine it is fairly cheap very reliable and easy to run in and tune;

I have ran these in my rally x since they were first released and i had no problems with them as such all i have done is replaced the bearing in the one engine and that is it

I do not run the engine and pipe set to be honest

1st engine i run the technopower Pipe

2nd engine i run the JP -4 Pipe

3rd engine i run a EZ POWER Pipe

All of these run faultless on any of these pipes and fuel economy is around the 10 min mark

Keep your eyes peeled as they will be up for sale shortley due to a new sponser for engines for this season of my racing

rb blast ,argus , alpha or a nova r10 would be better than the enduro imo and a jp4 will be good on most any thing enduro's ok but the others drive a lot nicer and more durable maybe

You definately need a started box otherwise you will be blistering fingers and swearing and packing it in. Another good engine for the price is the losi 350 and its matched pipe.
