Default GT12 Nationals Question

Can you run a 21.5t motor with no mechanical timing at the nationals with a 7.4 lipo?

Or is it just g2 and 13.5t?

21.5 is just for club racing.

The full rules are at http://www.brca.org/index.php?q=sect...les-2012/13572

For nationals its either 13.5 with 1s LiPo or G2 with NiMh or 1s LiPo.

Cars with 21.5 Brushless motors will be powered by cell/s with a maximum nominal voltage of 7.4v

Appendix Three – 21.5 motors allowed – (Construction) Rule 3.2
21.5t motors which have locked or fixed mechanical timing (ideally from the EB list) are suggested. For example:
HobbyWing / Xerun "Stock" 2.15t (part number 90040150/1)
SpeedPassion Ultra Sportsman V2 21.5t (Part Number SPF21V2)
SpeedPassion Ultra Sportsman V3 21.5t (Part Number SP00008)
Novak SS Pro 21.5t (Part Number 3421)
Losi Xcelron 21.5t (Part Number LOSB9409)
The Corally Pro Red motor is specifically excluded. If a model is chosen that does have a degree of mechanically adjustable timing it is up to the driver to prove that the timing is set to zero degrees.
(Intent – that the 21.5 motors are not used with mechanical timing advanced as this will give a performance advantage over the 13.5/1S combinations. It is intended that use of 2S cells simplifies installation, not gives a performance advantage.)

Jason im affraid your wrong National is not 21.5 at all, as clearly written.
national is only 13.5 or g2. 21.5 rules are for club use only and are NOT a national rule

so NO you can not

Refer to Rule 7 which lays out the classes for use at Nationals. That gives you the following combinations:

1S/13.5 - both from the BRCA lists
1S/G2 - cells only from the BRCA list.

Nothing else is eligible, despite what is stated above. HTH

No worries. BRCA Rules are split into two - Construction Rules and Racing Rules. This is because a Construction Rule requires a two-thirds majority of those voting to change a rule, whereas Racing Rules (including classes raced) only require a simple majority of votes cast at an AGM/EGM.

Construction Rules say what is allowed, and what not; what the dimensions are and their limits. We included 21.5 as it provides some Clubs with an alternative way of getting people racing with GT12. This was mainly because low-cost speedos with 1S capability were hard to come by, and wiring up a receiver pack or booster was not easy.

With the advent of two great low-cost 1S speedos from Mardave and Schumacher, perhaps the need for the 21.5 class will disappear. In any event, it was not adopted for Nationals as there is no equivalence between the two, and if the 21.5 was given any mechanical timing from the motor, it was often faster than a 1S/13.5.

The default combination - that is, everyone runs it - for Nationals is 1S/13.5 HTH
