Default Why so much?

Ok something serious for a change

After watching Neil, win at the Euros and the national last week with his plastic fantastic, which will probably have a sub £200 RRP, my question is why do we spend so much on our top level racers.

When you look at the cars in the A on sunday, if you go for your conversion cars ie x5/S44`s then the cars are £400+ b44`s are 250+, same with the HOBO`s, Cat £300 + and the meeting is won with something that many of us would turn our noses upto.

Obviously Neil has better than average skillz but if he thought the BX was a faster car he would of used it, right?

Also if neil went and dominated at stotfold too with the B MAX i still cant see a mad rush to buy it because it does not have the bling or the price tag. Maybe im wrong?

Good point Lee!

My thoughts is that a plastic car can pick up more overall grip and be more forgiving. And definately be just as fast. Probably it'll take more abuse as well. Alu is not only stiffer but normally also heavier than plastic.

But if you can afford it you will buy more and more bling. That's just the way it is... It's much more fun/interesting to work on a car that looks state of the art. We are all "race drivers" remember. Not kids playing around with toys.

You could just buy all cheap clothes also. And wear only one type every day. But how cool would that be?

The best drivers are the best drivers no matter what car they drive.

I sometimes wonder whether Neil could put 4 wheels and a motor on an old slipper and still win !?

Remarkable driving skills.

It's not just about winning outright, it's also about the technical aspects & ownership. A lot of us get pleasure from simply owning and tinkering with our models, the bling thing I guess..

I understand that fonzy but personally i would rather have performance than looks. Is bling more important than winning????

well, looking at Mike Hudsons car lee... I guess it is!

Anyway, I think it's the car aswell. I know Neil is a brilliant driver.. huge undestatement I know but for him not just to win but to dominate the two events he has raced the car at a 4wd national event and the Euros is a huge feat and surely not possible with a bad car? If he had entered the events with his BX, not saying it's a bad car before i get slated for it, would he have achieved the same results??

Mr Cragg is unquestionably a top RC racer and would perform well with many/any RC cars/car; recent results with the new B-Max would appear to indicate that the MR4-BX and MR4-BX Worlds cars have been holding him back a little... I think that's a fair assumption to make.

The results with the new B-Max have been awesome and manufacturers of £300+ car must be a little worried what impact this B-Max 'plastic' car will have on their sales.

Found this link a moment ago, if the 21,800 is the price in Yen that makes this car £101 in uk pounds, crazy!! I'm only assuming that’s the price, doesn't seem possible.

wow thats silly cheap, the car must have some credibility, as already stated Neil as good as he is seemed to not get on with the bx, yet a £101 plastic car he kicks ass
