Default Controlled Tires for 2017 season

Hi All
Just something that I'v been thinking about, not sure if anything has already been decided on this but will BRCA events (Regionals/Nationals) still have the controlled tyre as Mini Spike or will the newly released Mini Dart be allowed?

Regards Sam

This has not decided by the 10th committee as yet.
1st the Nationals have to be decided which is on the 17th of November.
Then we have to confirm with every clubs that the venue for date given to them is confirmed (that takes a few weeks normally) and then the clubs suggest what tyre works on their track and the committee decides then.
I would estimate that this decision will not be till the turn of the year.

BWOC to be held at Maritime will not be on the dart tyres - that I can confirm

HI
As long as we have been doing Regionals in the Mid South region there has always been a controlled tyre, either Schumacher Mini spike or Ballistic Buggy Mini spike on the driven axle.

I just wanted to see if its worth running the new mini darts and getting the car and the driver to work together just in case it all goes out the window at the regionals and we aren't allowed to use them

As Tony has clarified this won't be known until the new year so we wait

Without control tyres for the odd individual it may be good as they could run something out of the ordinary they want to run but its bad without controlled tyres.

Anyone that wants to compete (that is the massive majority) will be obligated (only to themselves of course) to carry stock of every tyre available just in case that tyre works.
I remember years ago, I had to massive haulers full of different tyres, just in case they worked.

Regionals are a variation to National rules and its up to the individual regions whether they run a control tyre. Mid-South historically does run side to side with National rules so we just wait to see the outcome of what tyre is what.

VERY happy that the Mid West has control tire at regionals, makes it so easy to plan and not get caught out

My guess for next year is that some clubs will suggest Darts and some will stick with the reliable old BB / Sch minispike combination.
As Tony says, will have to wait and see. Until then just make sure you have setups to suit all 3 tire types
