Default What's that car?

A friend of mine got hold of a vintage looking car, but we don't have a clue what it is. I didn't hold it in my hands yet, so can only judge from the pictures. What do you think?

Tamiya or Kyosho at a guess.

I could believe it is a toyota celica/porsche 959 tamiya. But not sure it looks quite right.

thanks, but it's no Tamiya Celica/Porsche. I got one myself so I'm pretty sure.

The shocks look like Gold option house, but the car does not appear in the Kyosho catalogues back to 1988.

it's either a Nikko Super Sprint or a Dandy dash, same basic car, few more hop ups on the super sprint, I have 2 dandys one super if you want to compare
Should be 4WD with a Bridgestone belt to a front 3 planet gear diff, an MSC very similar to early Kyoshos with clear cover, and low down positioning for receiver and steering throttle.

Super sprint
and dandy dash

These were the common type of Nikko that were aroind back in the day, then there was conversion kit which transformed the car into a real racer. Im fortunate enough to own one too- The Nikko 'BRAT'.

Yep, Brat Works packs were the hop ups, 2 packs, one took a dandy up to super standard second took either into full competition spec, made them a real contender, packs were about $30 in the day, saw one at $500 once now

Ive raced my BRAT in a couple of vintage meets now, sporting a 14 double the car really is a dream to drive. A little harder on the landings than I'd like but the car drives very neutraly. Appart from the diff outdrives wearing quite badly I'd say this car would have made a fine race car back in the day. My car's far from retired and I intend to make some more meets with it in the future.Great buggy with a sexy sleak and tough body shell to-boot!

This car was the first "decent" R/C car i'd ever seen, two lads round the corner from me had them for Xmas and i was given a MadCap - We used to race up and down the road daily until they discovered a local Club that ran indoors so i went up there with them and never looked back

Craig Harris got a Super sprint and it looked like a bit of fun so I got one as well, didnt last long as it wasnt up to the standards, but boy was it fun to drive, and it took some abuse.

have you got it yet?
I just picked up nearly a whole one for bits
If you need any spares I might be able to help.
I have the manual scanned as well.
