My Cat 2000 EC projects
Just going to start a thread showing what I plan to build. I am going to build 2 Cat 2000 EC buggies.
Buggy 1 will be a factory standard kit with no upgrades as it was from the factory. Buggy 2 will be a fully hopped up buggy which I intend on using, it will be complete with a slightly modified Fibrelite chassis (not cell slots) and full alloy, titanium and stainless upgrades. Ill try to post a few pics as I go but here are a couple of poor quality ones showing the donner cars and some parts I have collected so far. Also I am still in desperate need of a body and under tray, lexan gear covers and a front/rear upper alloy transmission cover. Paypal waiting if anybody has the items. |

Nice one! I like what you are planning, when these buggies were new they were competitive against cars like the XX4 - which as we know ended up being re-released after team drivers started using them instead of the newer XXX4.... using this logic your racer Cat2000 EC should prove to still be relatively 'handy' against the more modern buggies.
With regard to the shell I understand this might be the correct shell for the lay-down shock cars?? - but it would be worth checking the part# in the manual or a phone call to the factory before clicking the buy-it button! http://www.racing-cars.com/sp/catego...nd_Decals.html P.S; i've got those purple bulkhead pieces on an old SST, including the lower front one piece part.... however I have seen pictures that shown different one peice parts for the other areas that match the design more of the plastic parts.... maybe i'm getting confused with the CAT 3000? |

Parts
Sadly I think that body is the original Cat 2000 one not the EC.
The alloy parts are the same for the SST as for the Cat 2000 but the 3000 is different. |

These 2 takes me back to the mid 90's be good to see some progress shots fella.
Shells wise i think Penguin or Team Blue Groove may be able to help out on the lexan front.... |

Mmmmm
I think I'll be ok as the parts I got were for a Cat not an SST but I won't know till I start building and I can't do that till Fibrelyte get their fingers out. They said I'd have everything by mid week and havnt received anything yet!
Never mind I'm sure it will be worth the wait as their stuff is great from what I remember 17 yrs ago. |

The 3 piece rear housing that is in your pic (sst part for sure) will fit, however, it won't really work as it doesn't have the screw holes that the rear carbon plate needs to screw to.

Update
Here are a few pics of the progress. While waiting for the Fibrelyte products I built the shock using 100% new parts (just waiting on the rear titanium nitride shock shafts).
Then yesterday it happened, a lovely delivery of Fibrelyte goodies complete with battery straps (going to use Kyosho alloy posts). Note chassis has no battery strap holes yet. Managed to get home and do a bit more today. Now got the correct rear housing! Will get it anodised purple someday. More, all turnbuckles and hinge pins are titanium and screws stainless. Let me know what you think and with any advise. Thanks, Chris. |

Why using the kyosho posts instead of the schumacher dite since they are blue and not purple ????
Nice build otherwise. mvh Isobarik |

The Kyosho ones are gun metal thumb screw ones.
What Schumacher ones are you thinking about. Thanks. |

Cat SX3 or Cougar SV2 ones I presume could be used.

Wheels
Ive got 2 new sets of white 3 spokes and 1 set of yellow ones, they will be on the factory original car I'm doing. I may even have to do a semi hopped up one too as I have so many hopups left over!

Nice one! Look forward seeing the other car built up retro style!
The carbon beast looks too nice to run! I'd stick it on a shelf and have one knocked out of spares for running. |

Hi Chris.
The CAT is looking really good, 'well jel' as they say!! I'm doing a restoration project on my CAT 2000 EC too. But I can't find the alloy transmission housing anywhere! Did you manage to get a shell for it? I've just ordered a new shell, undertray and wing off eBay - "teambluegroove" is the seller and I believe he's got some stock in. I can't vouch for the quality yet as I'm still waiting on the delivery (from Canada) but for £25 including delivery, I couldn't say no. Would love to see some more pics of yours if you've made some more progress on it. I'll post some pics up of mine when I get my Fibre-Lyte parts in the post. Cheers, Andy |

I've got a brand new unpainted genuine Schumacher Cat 2000 EC Shell still in the packet and about 40 pairs of brand new wheels....
From memory about 5 sets are Schumacher White Dish wheels, the others are just all plain yellow dishes made by Ballistic buggy i think but are all brand new. Any use??
