Default NEAM regional - Track Poll

We have now had 2 reviews of the venue.
There are so many options we can do with the area, that we'd like to know what you as racers would like to see.

Please review the videos below, and vote once in the poll. We are uploading as many videos and pictures as possible tonight, to try and portray the options.

Please, NE racers only, though comments welcome from other Ooplers!

We will be track building proper Friday, so the earlier you can get there to help, the better, and you'll be able to see what the venue is like in person, as it is difficult to portray on a computer screen.

The options are:

1) Use the Tarmac sweeper, grass infield and straight, and small sections of the dirt running track. (purpose built rostrum will be on the grass away from the tarmac sweeper), with wooden jumps / table tops.

2) Flat grass track with wooden jumps / table tops

Please be patient, Greg Williams, Dex, and Jeff are going to upload some representitive videos.

Looks mint I voted for using the banked corner etc instead of the normal style track but looks like a great venue for a race

Love the idea of the banked sweeper, but also think it will eat tyres!

Voted flat grass track

Hope that grass can come down nice and short. You guys got a ride on?

The council are coming to cut it first then we have hired a lawn mower to finish it off!
We were thinking if we did run the banking we would have it so you were accelerating on the grass then just straight along the banking then off onto grass for braking into a corner to minimise tyre wear..

I must admit I was a bit worried about it too but it looks awesome when you see a car going around at full speed!!

Chris it's obvious from how you've worded the poll that you want to use the tarmac and the dirt sections. In fact I think this is the sole reason we're using this venue.

I don't remember anyone wanting to race here when we voted 6 months back, I remember everyone wanted to race at Bents park.

For years we've been racing at bents park and everyone likes it. I can't remember anyone complaining about it. Yet we've moved for no good reason other than 'you' wanted to.

So why don't you get off the fence and make a decision for F**Ks sake.

What are you scared of? You can never ever please everyone. Do what you want and if anyone complains, take their coments on board and move forward.

It's what us adults do.................!

i'm not bothered.

I like the inclusion of the dirt section, gives a chance to mix it up a bit. but am not as keen on the tarmac due to the tire wear and greater risk of serious breakages and chassis damage.

I'm sure that regardless of what the track layout is like it will be a great weekend of racing.

really looking forward to it

Yes, its a public poll and you can see I voted for that.

The poll has been worded factually, with the exception of the word "classic" next to the flat grass track.

The reason for using the venue was to shelter from any sea breeze, which caught the cars on high jumps a few times.[/QUOTE]

Ok, but I was the one that asked everyone, so didn't expect you to be aware of everyone's opinion.

I think the arguments for and against the location was:
1) Bents Park is better for the public viewing
2) Gypsies Green is more sheltered

The consensus was that we don't get much benefit of new members from public viewing, so let's do what's best for the racers, and try Gypsies Green. It's got better facilities, and only one gate for me to control ... it'll be a more private race meeting.

Correct, nice to get one right (with the exception of the odd meeting at Nissan).

Why not just cover the Tarmac bit with carpet then you can still get the effect of it without tyre wear. It would be a shame to have a facility with features like this and then not utilise them in the track

Good idea Davey, could have two rolls of carpet out, and bendy boards on and off to help the transition ... I'll respect the poll though.

Wow an insite into how your head works.... Backwards.

I know everyone's opinion because I was there during the discussions we had at the AGM and following weeks. I was the one asking questions and listening to what was said.

Not sitting on the fence smiling thinking about something else with a gormless look on my face.

Since then I have had many discussions with many different north east drivers and guess what, the majoritywanted bents park and they all wanted a grass track like the good ones we've had the last few years.

If it's not broken don't fix it..!

And I'm not sure how getting off the fence, voicing your honest opinion is stroppy at all..? Like I said Chris it's what us Adults do...!

Now look at the poll, grass track it is then eh...!

I'm happy with a grass track. We do need to get some features built into it though.

Can't wait for Friday.

Having read the full thread, I voted for the multi- surface, whether that's tarmac or carpet section.

Hoping the weather stays good and we have another great meeting like at Dynamix!

I say balls to the poll let the people that turn up to build the track decide on how it should be on Friday.
