Default 210 Gear Diff Oil

Hi, I have ordered the new gear diff for my 210 and would like to know what wt oil would give me the same feel/performance as the ball diff?

It will feel like a different car probably. I'm running 650 shock oil in mine at the moment and it's lovely. Run that on both carpet and astro

Thanks, just need a starting point as i have never ran a gear diff for racing and looking to keep the handling similar, the 210 is good at the mo but on a borrowed diff as mine just did not want to work.

I've run mine a couple of times now with the gear diff, using 1000wt oil. Feels more agile than the ball diff with this, but not so good on the brakes. A good staring point and for something similar to the ball diff I'd go with 2000wt, its what I'll be trying next ...

Depends totally on the grip level and how much steering u want. If u run thick and grip is low you are going to get under steer.

I think most people run far too thick oil really. I'd say 1000 for grass, assuming it is grass and not dirt.

I tried 2000 on astro and it was awful

Running mainly indoors on carpet and will be doing some outdoor on astro, so about 1000 is a good place to start then.

what handling characteristics did you find with the much lighter oil?

And this is working for you in both low and high grip conditions?

Thanks

I started with 3,000CST on astro and that was good, but I've recently gone down to 2,000 and find that about perfect. I tried 650 but that was too loose.

I run 50WT Losi shock oil in mine on low grip hardpacked dirt.
Any thicker fluids is making my dex nervous
It is not going to "diff-out"

Just to report on my gear diff, I built it using 1000cst durango diff oil and ran the car for the first time last night. The car felt great to drive, very similar to my ball diff and very smooth after a couple of runs
