Frayed Knot.

But I have a stick pack with the stickers.

I used to have these in my Cougar 2 and Bosscat back in the day, thinking of offloading them both as well as a Cat XLS, have a few vintage ESC's , servo's and motors too.

I've got three sets of the TOP models SCRC packs from back in the day, c.1992-93. They still work after I cycled them many times, although lack any punch whatsoever.
I recently binned about 12-14 packs of TOP models SCE and SCRs as they had mostly leaked or corroded.

Brian Stacey used to buy in all the cells, cycle them and match them up into packs in his garage shop near Mold, North Wales. His packs were excellent, some of the best available at the time. The pink matching stickers will be on your cells, they are under the TOP pink/white/silver sticker. When you remove that, you rip the paper matching labels. Earlier packs used to be visible if you removed the black heatshrink.

TOP Models is still going strong, but Brian sold the business early 1990's, certainly after 1993, when I stopped racing at 17.

Dave vine now runs Top models, he bought the shop i think it was around 1999/2000 ( i married his daughter in 2001 for my sins lol). Dave still has the turbo matcher from back in the day that Brian use to use. Dave moved the shop around 2005 ish closer to where he lived ( he was travelling around 35 miles each way daily to get to work) The shop is now in Rhuddlan (close to Rhyl). its only small, but you always get a good welcome with friendly service and usually walk out from there having had a good chuckle. Dave has been around the rc scene forever! He also runs the wirral rc car club, and has recently opened his own slot track close to the shop.

Thanks for the info.

I used to deal with him by mail order back in the day. I called in one time while on the way back from the continent and having had a bit of time to kill before the ferry back to Ireland, I remember being underwhelmed by the size of the shop, I had been expecting a huge model emporium only to find a prefab in a yard.

Still good to deal with though.

I might even still have some of the free Top Models note pads in the attic somewhere.

What vintage motors do you have

I was looking at just the red Sanyo 1200SCR Cells for one of my shelfers, or just the yellow SCs

I actually have a brand new Kyosho SCR Saddle Pack, the one encased in plastic, patiently waiting for one of my projects

the old b&r bullet, that brings back memories. i ran mainly the demon stock motors, and eventually modifieds too when 1700scr's became cheaper, tried a B&r, trinity, the old srm scorchers, and a few other odd ones, but always ended up back with the demons. i still have working packs of 1700scr, 1400scr, and dead 1700 sce. one day i will get round to cleaning them up and putting them in my pb's and optima's

I'd like to express my interest in your LRP and Twisters motors. Do you have any other old motors? Is the Schuey stick pack still available also?
Thank you- Jason

it has to be said that old school cells & brushed motors look pretty cool.

this all brings back great memories of wind up chargers, pro peak single button chargers, comm cleaning sticks, comm drops, cells coming off too hot to touch after a heat, trying to solder corally connectors to saddle packs, and barely moving the car before the start of the heat in case it dumped.

oh, and best of all, being in the lead during a heat or final with 30 seconds to go, and the awful feeling of slowing steering before the car would start going round in circles.

good times

I think I have more stock motors in a box somewhere, but no more modifieds.

Schumacher pack and one set of Tops sold.

I have 3 Tops left and also a set from Ultimate Racing (think they were from the States) I have 2 packs of the Panasonics.

Here is what I have in electrics

Tekin 410S have instruction booklet and might have the adjuster tool (need to do a bit more rooting for it)

Tekin 410K and KO PS1001FET , have the instruction book for the 410K

Novak XXL receiver, didn't even know I had this

I never even knew there were 1700 SCRs, when I got out of RC there was either 1700 SCE, 1200 SCR and 1200 SC, seems like eventually one got to have the best of both worlds

I'm rather keen on the Tekin 410, PM me a price if you can

2nd dibs on the 410K if HKS_TRD doesn't want it

I'd also be interested in a set of the Top Models SCRC saddles if the packs left are in as good a condition as the ones in your first post.

The KO1001 would also be nice to have also - to go in my Masami Tribute YZ10.... as that was the servo he used

If you could PM prices etc that would be 'sweet'!

Is the stick of 1700SCR's still available?
If so I would be interested for one of my 1/12th scale shelf queens (when I get around to finishing it off!).

The fact that you are still using them just goes to show how good and durable a servo they really are
