2010 oOple Race Announced - June 12-13

After a couple of weeks of heavy discussion and planning between the oOple crew, we are proud to announce our first 'oOple race' - the 2010 oOple Invernational!

Date – June 12th & 13th, with some free practice on Friday 11th.
Venue - RHR, Nottinghamshire UK- robinhoodraceway.com (http://www.robinhoodraceway.com)

Summer 2010 will see the inaugural running of the oOple Invernational. Planned as a mid-summer festival of RC, complete with off track attractions, it will be run to a US style big event format. oOple forum members and international guests will be invited to compete to be ‘oOple Champion’.

The format will be new to many UK drivers, with 2wd and 4wd being run across both days.
Friday Evening (optional)– Practice
Saturday – Driver registration, Timed practice & 4 qualifying rounds
Sunday – 1 qualifying round & triple leg finals for all.

Limited entries will be available, ensuring massive track time, particularly for those competing across multiple classes.
Classes:
2wd 10th Electric Off-Road – 80 entries available
4wd 10th Electric Off-Road – 80 entries available
Electric Open – TBA

Another first for many will be race duration, the meeting will run with all heats and finals being timed at 6 minutes each, for even more track-time.

Jimmy, with this MASSIVE amount of early interest and the cool :thumbsup: 6 minute heat idea (always like somthing new and different), maybe look to 12 cars per heat/final too, which may allow for a bigger entry for you!! (the RHR track is certainly big enough to handle 12 car heats easily)

When we open registration we will encourage everyone who would like a place to register their interest, once we have a list of interested parties we will ask for entries and payment to be sent for available places.

If you are going to enter, you defo want to be in both classes. Remember that the two classes are running together, so if you are only in one you can go out for dinner and take a good long nap between times on the rostrum.

Unless you've broken something, in which case you fix the car, then choose between the dinner or the nap.

C'mon, Jimmy, make it a really big deal, with 300+ entries, practice during the week, qualifying Friday & Sat, mains Sunday. These two-day thingys, we barely get into it. Let's have a week-long R/C riot.

Some will say, "I can't take the week off work." So have a warm-up race on the same lay-out the weekend before, so anyone who wants to can dial it in then. You could even fix it so anyone in the warm-up race is not allowed on the track until Friday. That way people must only take Friday off. And with 2 qualis on Saturday, you don't have to take Friday off if that's a problem.

Thing is with your US events is that you'll have 6 classes or more for ROAR for example 2wdmod, 2wdstock, 4wdmod, 4wdstock, truckmod, truckstock, SC10, sportsman and more.. We only run modified in most events here and most people double up so you do get a lot of track time and in one class - 1/10th offroad modified so you do 'get into it'. There were nearly 300 entries to the Clash but only 60 drivers, we seem to prefer to race against the best all in one class here.
Also we have 2 1/10th nationals and an 8th national in June so racers are away from home a lot already in that period.
Having said all this i know that all the comments are being processed and discussed by the great minds at oOple :thumbsup:

I do think though that this event is what 1/10th is crying out for in the UK, 1/8th has so many one off events that get alot of coverage and sponsorship so this hopfully this will be the start of bigger things for 1/10th!!

If it wasn't already mentioned before - we look for a good mix of drivers for this event. Overseas drivers, top-superstar drivers, and average/young drivers.

I know there are probably loads of things that still need to be finalised...but does anyone in oOple-land know if the entry fee includes or excludes a camping fee?

I presume details like control tyres, camping etc will be announced at some point later?

Camping fee is very low, usually £1/night for tents, £2/night for caravans.
