ALL LiPo cells MUST be charged in a commercially available LiPo sack
Any tyres to be used.
Gonna put info on this thread guys for booking in etc.
Any requests (sensible ones please).
One thing I do know, as of 1st Jan, all WRCA Regionals will require you to charge your LiPo cells in a LiPo sack, this means a 'commercially available sack', not something home made guys.

are we definitely aloud to use minipins ????????????

Yeah good question...it became apparent at Caldicot, that at club meetings at COBRA, pins are allowed? Is this correct?
If not, can I just say that for tyre longevity, and some fun, I do hope that there is a reasonable amount polish floor/slippy if we have to run minispikes or an alternative  50% of each surface would be excellent!
Cheers
Mark
Currently (and I will get this verified by the new committee), that the pins were banned as a club rule (cue Roy). But the intention is to have a mix of hardboard and carpet, if we can, also have some of the gymnasium floor to. The track isn't going to be a touring car track with bumps.

It's funny how some peoples memory is very selective isn't it, we were all at the same discussion yet you still find it hard to remember what was proposed and voted in. Open motors open tyre for all classes.
Is that enough of a "cue". :p :p :p

Any important notices will be put in the first post Steve, you have plenty of time yet!!
Finally it is now agreed that a vote was taken and passed for OPEN MOTORS AND OPEN TYRES for all classes,:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I know I wasn't there that race meeting when the vote took place. But at AGM the other week it was discussed mentioned it was open motor/open tyre for club championships, but nothing was said for other events the club holds (club days etc).
Now, to me, logic also dictates that they can be also used at other club events, but, Steve has mentioned, perhaps the committee should have a quick chat/email/text to clarify the position 100% as at the moment, it isn't know for sure.
It is clarification of the passing it as a club rule at the 2009 AGM that needs finding out, as in the end, a club rule takes precedence over the champ, once that is done, then we can move on from this subject once and for all.

Does that mean there is a list of WRCA rules publicised somewhere? Can you post a link or let us know where to find em someone
Craig, I have no idea on the WRCA rules, might be worth asking a committee member :p

As you quoted an apparent WRCA rule I thought you may have known something no one else does. How can there be any rules if there are no rules?
This lipo bag rule is apparently a BRCA rule which I have heard through a few 3rd party rumours and yet no official notice has been given to the clubs by the BRCA, so how can that be a rule either???? Confused.com
I was informed that it was one of the things laid out at the AGM Craig, but not seen it in writing as yet, same with the BRCA rule, I have been told it is to go in the General Rules section, but as of yet, nowt.

that was a vote for a club championship Roy...... Like I said, I will seek clarification.
Have Cobra had notification from the BRCA about the lipo sack thing? Caldi aint
It would go to Vanessa at the moment, but I have not heard anything as of yet.
I will admit, we all know it is coming, but in what form we don't know, I am assuming the worst, which would be it is in General Rules and it will be a commercially available item, but that would also mean that any LiPo cell charged at a meeting must go into a sack, transmitter, receiver, starter box etc. If you hear anything, Craig, let us know?
Today, myself, Dave Jackson, Tom and Ken Graham have been mostly making a table top and some smaller jumps, I shall post some pics up later.

hi steve.
Whos taking the payments for the brca membership mate?
where's the new venue to mate, i've been bizzy for a while so i've kind of lost touch with you guys.
Hey fella, you need to send the forms to Vanessa, £10 club membership, £13 BRCA.
New place is 'Star Sports Centre' in Splott.
some build pics, these jumps are by no means 'finished' and they will be covered in carpet.
There will be four of these

And one of these, the top of the table top is 8'x8'

That roller jump looks awesome!
I would advise bringing a few small bits of hardboard, just as smoothers for some of the sharper jumps.
We always run a small piece on the up-ramp of our table top at Hereford as otherwise it is very inconsistent!
Looking forward to Feb (seems a long way away at present!)
Cheers
Mark
We already realised that Mark, as I said, not finished yet, but the transition from floor to ramp and back will be smoothed out with some board that will curve.
What are you guys opinions of going under the table top to, if visibility isn't an issue?
JACKOR33
30-12-2010, 08:43 PM
Guess ill be fetching some more hardboard tomorrow then hey steve? lol
Also, we will be trying to use these new jumps and features on regular club meets aswell as having a bit of flat carpet for our snoring cars:p
markwilliamson2001
30-12-2010, 09:28 PM
Regards Table Top: If visibility is not an issue, should be okay...
Not really a fan of the cross over though, as people can still get stuck underneath the table top, which makes marshalling difficult. We had to stop a club race once, and restart, since it was ridiculous the number of cars trapped underneath the table top..
Decision is yours. Jumps look good though, looking forward to it! :D
Thanks Mark, we may test before we go ahead with that

is there any way you could board off the legs under the ramp to try and eliminate cars getting hung up underneath? just a thought
If we use is as a cross over, the legs will be boarded to provide a snag free passage underneath Andy, if thats what you mean?

Following on the success of Ref's at caldicot. Would Cobra like to supply there own Refs or would you like the WRCA crew to continue this at your event. (Reg, Dave Gooding, Balders and myself).
A few questions if you need us.
do you the facility to run a second screen out for us??
If you don't have a screen I'm sure the WRCA could come up with one just let me know what we would need to jack into your computer.
And can we have a mic into your PA system.?
Again if you don't have anything just let me know cos I'm sure the wrca can help out again as this would then be used through out the summer series and on and on.
Cheers folks
If people are willing to volunteer as Ref's, brilliant.
The laptop can put out to a screen, but I don't know if it can run the laptop screen plus external at the same time, plus we don't have a known working screen or cable.
I will ask Ned about the PA, ref's generally don't need PA access though....

Steve,
I doubt our laptop has dual output capability its not exactly hi spec
Ned might prove me wrong but i don't think it will!
I will look, I know you can output to another screen, but whether it can run both together, I don't know.
I'm sure we had it running an external screen once just after I started in the club.
May have been the MicroX meeting we held.

If it has a VGA or DVI output then the pc's onboard graphics can be configured to duplicate the main screen using ATM control centre or Nividia control centre. Both of these are available free on the internet and are operated by simply right clicing on the desktop (give it a try as it may already be on the computer).
It is an ageing Panasonic Toughbook Jamie, but will give it a bash!

I thought the day was excellent, well run meeting, and track layout was brilliant, flowed very well, and was easily big enough for 10 car finals. I also thought that the start of the 4wd 'A' final was one of the cleanest starts I have witnessed whilst racing in the last few years, and everyone should be applauded as to the standard of their driving in the first few corners. The jumps were also very consistent, and were easily strong enough and reliable throughout the day - well done.
Looking forward to the results as well, hopefully I might have made the top ten out of the two rounds I did??? No idea though. :woot::D
Only minor gripe for me, was that the rostrum was just a little too low, to see the table top VERY clearly, however, it wasnt really a problem, as the entry and landing was easily visible. I guess since the club normally races touring, then to build a higher rostrum just for one meeting would have been very costly, and would probably have put the club in debt, not the best of things to do in the current economic climate.
Overall 9.5/10 from me, will defo come again!:thumbsup:

I asked the same question today Dave, and it doesn't look as if any trophies will be awarded.
Im confused a little tho, as i believe each entrant to the WRCA winter series has paid £1 per race day towards the WRCA? Im confused because i cant see where that money has gone, you would have presumed it was to cover trophies
Sorry when I arranged the series I didn't even think about trophies, it was just the satisfaction of having done well in a championship that I was after!
In terms of £1 per entrant per race day going to the WRCA - well that's news to me!!
I'd like to say thanks to Cobra for a stress free happy day - had great fun running my old RC10 in the 4th round :)

20-02-2011, 08:55 PM
Pete, if im wrong about the £1 per entry ill withdraw my comment. I presumed it was standard practice after the WRCA outdoor season that £1 of your entry went to the WRCA.
Andy, there's a difference between jumping and launching a rocketship into the roof of the venue like you were....LOL Some serious big air there, Yee ha.

Thanks Mark, we do have 'boosters' for the rostrum, but then we got to get the steps out to, and time was tight this morning, but it is something we will take into consideration next time round.

Not too sure what outside racing I am doing yet, probably mid-west regionals at present, and dont really know of what welsh outdoor tracks there are??

Cheers Mark, the club really showed what it can do when they put their collective heads together. (we had to pay an extra £50 to get the hall opened an hour earlier today, and then they were 15 mins late, maybe next time we could negotiate an earlier open time so peeps could get practice, but nobody was at an advantage today, as we usually run all carpet).

I imagine it's possible, but it would be better if you were to mix the results of 2WD & 4WD Micro together. Our races are like that so we don't mind running with them :)

Bugger off Dan, you've won it anyways. LOL And it means i wont get a trophy then :-)
Also it would mean re-calculating the results from all 3 rounds, and i just haven't the time or patience.
Can anyone tell me why posts/replies have been removed from page 6!!

Theyve been moved to a new thread Dave to keep the Cobra topic on topic.
Can anyone tell me why posts/replies have been removed from page 6!!
Hiya Dave, I split the topic so the COBRA one didn't become a 'beat the WRCA' thread, don't mind, do you :D
