I just want something that I feel comfortable with. And the cat isn't quite hitting the spot. I wont get rid of both of them until I'm sure. Tough call between this and the laser but I cant bring myself to spend Ģ380 on a kit and about another Ģ150 on extras and still have a plastic chassis. Never say never though.:woot:

FS2 SP should be good to go straight out of the box. Speak to Tony E on Sunday at TORCH.

Other than a change of springs, the FS2 is good to go from the box (the kit springs are a bit soft for Astro IMHO). Yes you can buy hop up parts but these are mostly for bling or to increase reliability.

Wow cool ya jets , it takes longer to sort the pics than the build .:)

Here are a few more they will be the last for tonight.

the main change on this post is the rear hanger, instead of having three different hangers it has one hanger and diffrent plastic inserts.

please be aware i am steeling a few parts from my old 410.
the v3 kit comes with plastic rear gearbox holders and plastic servo/steering mount. from how far i have got the kit is extremly good value for money and not far of the spec you would pay Ģ450+ around a year ago.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:TD

Please let me know if you want any particular pics.

23-09-2011, 05:36 AM
From TD

"The new features on the DEX410v3 are:-
.....

Changes from the 2010 kit are:-
......
Revised rear bulkhead and rear gearbox hoop to improve strength in these areas.
.....

The part number and name for this kit are TD102011 DEX410v3"

Iīm interested in how bulkhead is changed? New pics the bulkhead looks same like old one.

Sorry for my bad english skills.

DEX210 will come with big bores and it's likely they will be the same shocks on both cars.

Very nice, what oils did you go for in the diffs?

What electrics are you putting in it?

I put 7000 front and 4000 rear , i was just going off what i run @ worksop last winter

elecs will be savox 1258 , tekin rs pro , sp 5.5 , ko 408s , and vampire lipos at the mo

some more pics.

the noticable differances are -

large bearing on the outside of the rear hub

bb shocks with nice gold colour shafts ( i think we knew about the bb's)

shock mountings to the shock towers are a different system ( i quiet liked the old system but new seems good )

and big meaty wheel hexes.

Hi Mikey , the manual is much the same but in black and white. the turnbuckles are TD the balls are lunsford titanium with rpm cups. never had problems with these so i kept them like this.

just about finished now , i wont get the elecs in till after the weekend maybe sunday.

1st pic shows new for old wheels.

I'm amazed at what a professional job Durango have made of their cars, advertising and marketing for such a small company. Really impressive stuff to say the least. They clearly have a race-proven design already, but to make so many little tweaks shows they listen to feedback and want to make their product better for the right reasons.

Great to see, good work Durango!

Yeah they come with plastic adjusters in the v3 kit , I put a tiny drop of oil on the threads before I put them on but they were a bit hit and miss the rears seemed tight still and the fronts were quiet loose ! No biggy really I will prob buy the ally adjusters but the plastic one do there job !

The only thing that concerns me is the amount of meat on the roll centre adjustment on the rear. Where the camber link ball joints go through the tower looks very thin indeed. One decent knock during a roll could snap that very easily by the looks of it.?

Is it just me or is it really that thin?

I have run the flex system , I used it @ the f345s at Coventry , it was high grip astro ( when dry ! ) so prob not the best place to use it ! I don't usually race on astro so it would be hard to say if I noticed any diff !

My v3 landed today  unfortunately I snapped my 1.5mm driver yesterday when I was dismantling my v1 :(

Everything looks great so far but I can see one place where some money has been saved, the manual. The original was the highest quality manual I've ever seen with a kit but the new one is on cheaper paper and is in black and white.

This is an observation not a moan though, I'm much happier with the extra cash going towards the 210 than shiny manuals

Slightly cab forward, air vents in better places to get cold air to the electrics, sides aren't stepped any more to give more room inside.

Ive had a few teeth break like that, my first set from an original 410 lasted about a year, some after that, not as long - in my experience its either

- mesh, despite what I've been told I've found the later gearbox halves, the ones that come with the centre driveshaft pin washers on the plastic tree(from the 410r), need more spacers on the none teeth side to get the same mesh as the earlier ones.

- Centre shaft gearbox bearings worn

- Slipper too tight

or a little bit of everything above!

Good luck! - Sam

looking at the wear marks on all your teeth if you look at the ones up the side of the diff you can see they are more warn the further in the tooth you go as the end of the tooth there is a tip, is there diff spacers like in the preds to mesh the tooth properly?? or may be the calculated bevel angle is slightly out to the drive bevel gear thus causing un even wear, this may happen in some cases due to production tollerences being to high, just a thought

I've done that to the fronts, when going from indoors 13.5 wood block, to 6.5 on Astro, forgetting to calm the brakes down, touching the brakes at the end of the straight and lifting the arse off the ground, verry crunchy after that. Just to confirm the fact I did it again the following week. A TRUE professional would do ot a third time just to make sure.

there are two factors causing this,

2. the brakes are to high.

I'm very hard on the brakes and I've done a few myself. When replacing them just pause for a second and think about is it worth the extra Ģ7.80 for the machined ones. The normal ones are rubbish by comparison.

Check the bearings on the bevel gear to, the spacing has to be right else the gear will move around, even if you have the crown shimmed correct.

Parts for the V3 are easier to get hold of than the kit itself but it's well worth the wait ,only used mine once so far but felt more stable and predictable than my old 2010 full fat 410:thumbsup:

Cannot agree more, for me it is somehow easier to drive (or my driving got better meanwhile) but the car is well worth the wait and you get almost every spare you want.

Most of the old car fits straight on so they are all in the shops biggest issue is getting wheels!

If it feels much more stable do you think its just the BBs thats the difference?
There isn't a hell of a lot of geometry changes in the V3 is there?

Not sure but don't think it's just the BB's rest of the car is set-up like my old 410 apart from the shocks though:confused:

any other brands of metal shock standoffs that fit the v4? or any shop with the durango ones in stock?

you might just do the job with a simple long 3mm-screw/bolt and some washers.
Will do the trick but will be a bit less strong, IMHO.

Would be better off using the plastic ones that come with the 210 kit, as thats pretty much what they are anyway. Rather then bolts and washers.
