No, I have read the list, and have a copy on my desktop, I have also read all (well;)) of the posts on oOple, RaceChat & Doughty, I can see that most of em are guestimates and opinion. But if Jim Spencer quotes a rule that seems to carry a bit more weight for me.
But like most of us racers, I would expect this sort of thing to be easy to understand and I would expect to be sure of what cells can or cannot be used, I am forming the opinion that a short list of cells we cannot use would have been easier. I know there is lots of time untill the start of the season and not all shops have stocks etc, but I cannot see any reason not to discuss our understanding of the rules and how it affects us/me.
If up to 3700's are allowed, say at least at regional level, for 2008, will that threashold be raised to say 4200 for the 2009 season, or am I being silly.
Mick
you are being silly;) all the old cell's can be used upto regional level for 2008 only national's (possibly EOS finals) that are from the new list!
ps sure you've read them:lol:

Mick
but as jim say's that's his interpretation, he didn't write the rule's and if the list say's only these cell's to be used for 2008 national's i can't for any reason see why it wouldnt be the case!
no roger,
ONLY CELLS DETAILED BELOW ARE APPROVED FOR BRCA NATIONAL EVENTS IN 2008
no others for national's.
Have i missed something somewhere? When did the wording "in addition" stop meaning "in addition"?

calm down Chris. I'm going to ask Paul anyway and will post what he says in this thread.
that will be good roger:thumbsup:as racers have said before,it would be a shame not been able to use up to 3700 competion cells, which have been reliable in the past?

Just wondering, why does it say UP42SC3700P next to the Orion SHO cells?
the 3700 part seems strange?

Its capacity is 3700 mah? how do they get away with calling it a 4200 then?
There is a thread on RaceChat on this one, suggestion is the 4200 is only decoration, not pertaining to the Amp hour of the cell, look at the listing they are lighter and 3700 is probally plenty if the punch is there.

Edit 1, did promice myself I would not post in this thread again

they can call em 5800 if they wish, they dont claim them to be 4200 capacity anywhere

a bit sneaky, but it doesn't really matter so much in off-road I guess. Expensive for 3700's though.
will they provide enough run-time for the on-road guys?
I'd expect them to be robust anyway. My biggest fear with buying new cells is them being volatile.

Have just noticed the approval date on the new list for all the cells says 1st Jan 2008, am I right in thinking old lists showed April dates? Does that mean the new cells will be legal for the indoor finals?
No, Dave, the indoor finals are the end of the 2007 season, so run to 2007 rules

So does anyone actually know weather matched GP 3700's are allowed for 2008 nationals?
I will be annoyed if i have to buy new cells that could go bang such as EB's to replace my tried and tested 3700's, that to my knowlege no one has had any problems with.

Well i think the "rest of the world" SHO's probably are 4200, but maybe not the EU ones (i.e teh ones that are legal over here)
