Apparantley if it can't be held at Moto-Arena it will be held somewhere local to that site...?

The Worksop Players is on the week after, going to be a busy fortnight!

i think we need to have details of a confirmed venue for this race sooner rather than later. so far its at a place that simply doesn't exist anymore!

unconfirmed venue
expensive entry fee
have to buy tyres i dont want & would never normally use

pretty close to binning this off now :eh?:

It's one tire I didn't want to go out buying tbh

Well, i had an invation from Nicolas this morning of which i am very gratefull. But i agree with the comments above.

What puts me off is the unconfirmed venue and the control tyre. I tried Dboots last year indoors and they were simply rubbish, cant see me paying silly money for an entry to an unconfirmed venue to race with rubbish tyres.

Think there will be a few more hoping for an entry at the Players instead this year. (or technically next year)

For everyone's information,

As some will know the invitations have gone out this week for the Petit race.
As it stands the meeting will be held at Moto Arena, if this is not possible by the time of the meeting or at least a month before then it will move to our other venue which is 10 mins away. We have kept everything in place so people booking hotels etc will have no need to change. The meeting will be held around Silverstone/Northampton area so i advise you book hotels around these areas.

With regard to the Dboots tyres this is nothing to do with us, but i believe they are supporting the event.

The other venue is just off J15 on the M1.

Sadly there is nothing more we can do at this moment, but we will deliver an awesome Petit Race.

+1 They start off really grippy but then keep on giving grip till you are nearly through the carcass. I prefered them over minipins last year on carpet.

It's Me!

I've also used the Dboots indoors last winter. I have to be honest and say that the Schumacher yellows are more consistent on 100% (new/high grip) carpet tracks for me, however, the Dboots were just as good on multi surface tracks which I think this event will be. In fact (as mentioned earlier) the Dboot pins get better and better in my opinion so the costs are lower for us normal folk!

Team DUrango is the Main sponsor of the event for 2012 and consequently Dboots tires will be official tyres of the event.
I've changed nothing in my organisation, carpet will be at 90% minimum and a sliperry part as usual. (or 100% carpet, i'm not closed on that and let this part to the hosted club and drivers but all I decided will be respecte as each year since 2006.
I can understand your questions but trust me as I trust to Moto-Arena and Siverstone club.

Details are online and will be open to all drivers from 1st october (if places will be available - I'm sure some of you get them as I read some post from invited drivers who don't want honore its) - Just be patient the 1st october

£36 for the day for 1 class with no tyres included in the race fee. WOW!

bet you get a T-shirt that no one will wear though!

What makes this event more expeensive than all the others we raced at this year, the F345's and F2/juniors/vets were a £5 weren't they? and they were great weekends

Oople was a bit dearer but that was well worth the money

The question is how many times have you got the chance to rub shoulders with the best in europe and the world (several drivers last year where worlds A finalists and winners) on the rostrum. You dont get that at the f's event.

Adam F
02-10-2011, 12:20 PM
Not sure thats worth the premium, the chances of me racing against any of the top flight are tiny.... (and if I did I would just get destroyed)

There has been worlds level bods at MA before during a normal club night and it made no difference to my night at all..

From a personal point of view, the £36 cost would be much less of an issue if I knew where I was going to be racing. Can't justify paying ANY amount of money to race at an undisclosed venue, I'm not interested in racing "somewhere off junction 15" so I'll not be bothering :wtf:

I'm sorry you feel this way mate, but I understand. although you know the whole MA situation has been out of our hands. Right chaps,

I have been quiet thus far regarding the venue of the Petit because it is Mr Petit's event not Silverstone RCMCC's.

We have been in close contact with Nicolas over the past months on a regular basis and even more so over the past couple of weeks as I'm sure many of you are aware.

We as a club were asked to RUN the event and the VENUE was agreed with MA so it's not our fault they have let us all down. We have exhausted every avenue and invested much personal time searching everywhere for a new (suitable) venue to host the event at. The reason we decided to try and assist is because Nicolas and our club didn't get the final decision about MA until last week because we were promised by Silverstone Circuit that they would let us use the Venue regardless of MA being involved or not. They changed their plans late last week due to BUSINESS REASONS!!! As I mentioned we have another venue in line, however we're dealing with a multi national company and things move slowly in these circles. We wanted the chance regardless of MA's involvement to host such a prestigious event even if at a great financial loss to our club!!!

So again, I'm sorry if you feel like you have been ill-treated or kept waiting. I didn't want to get involved in giving possible wrong information when I feel we as a club shouldn't post anything regarding Mr Petit's event without it coming from him first.

It is only natural that he has probably asked other venue's/clubs as some of you're hinting at and that is fine. I feel we've done everything possible to make sure this event is as fantastic as the past years that I've been fortunate to attend.

I would like to think you know me well enough mate to tell you if that was the case. Unfortunately the Petit date isn't available at our new venue otherwise yes it would be.

The Venue we're in talks with is about 15-20 mins from MA as originally promised, however can't disclose address at request of property owners.

Appreciated Matt...

But consider everyone else??? People need to make arrangements etc.

Ive booked Travelodge at Silverstone which was the closest you could probably get to MA... ok it was cheap.. but im still going to have to get up earlier and travel a distance which kind of defeats the object of cheap accomodation... for a cheap weekend.. Im having to watch my finances at the moment and im sure im not alone... Its a good 2 1/2 drive for me (fuel costs), plus entry so all the extras start to add up.. :(

You cant disclose an address??? sounds a bit bizarre!

Nic,

I'm sorry, mate. Its a simple request from the land owner. Its a secure site which we have to gain permission and be escorted to even view!

We have thought about everyone else way before ourselves as this is by no means easy for us to do if successful with the venue. We have to build a venue from an empty shell and will probably cost our club in excess of £2000 which we've worked bloody hard to save for our outdoor track. I will also have to take at least a week off of work to set this up and I'm self employed. It's been made harder by trying to keep the venue that suits our requirement as close as possible to MA for people like yourself.

I hope it works and have more information shortly.

All entrants will receive a brown envelope through the post with the instructions, then you will have to read them and destroy all evidence. You will have to drive to a set location where you will all be put into black vans with no windows, blindfolded and then driven to the location.

After the event you will be given a pill, you will then wake up back in your car with no memory of it ever happening :woot:

The truth is out there .............. ;)

Only one problem with Ardent looks like they have an event on the 15th Jan.

"15th January 2012 - World GT, F1 and Pan Series Round 4 (With Supporting Classes for Mardaves and Minis)"

Do you think they would change the date of Petit? That would really annoy people that have booked hotels already.

The mystery continues...:o

Taken from the Petit website :-(

Matt Owen
SRCMCC Chairman

Due to some problems with MA and other "secured" venue closest Silverstone, I would like to announce you today that the 6th edition of the PETITRC RACE ( ^^ name of the race) will be back to.... ARDENT RACEWAY at Kings Newton in Derbyshire.

If some of registered drivers want be refund, it will be possible. Just send me an email.

Roll on ARDENT RACEWAY! http://www.petitrc.com/_forumphp/images/smilies/yolks/whistle.png

Some places are available yet but not for a long time. Remeber you, this 5th edition was FULL and some of you stayed at home. Wake up!!

The controlled tyre for the Petit Race will be the new dBoots NanoByte tyre.
A tyre we have been working on specifically for the Euro indoor scene. The tyre has proved really good in testing. They've been run on numerous tracks on the Prima Felt GT carpet. Those who have seen them know how good they are.

I'm surprised it was taken out of your hands so abruptly... especially as you were so close to confirming the new venue. I know how much work you and the Silverstone team were putting in to secure an alternative, so I just don't understand why the decision was made by Nicholas to shift it 150 miles away. Good news on getting the venue... but what i cant quite get my head round is the fact its been so secret and know one at all has been forth coming in info, especially when you have plenty of european visitors coming who need to make plans etc..

(its been common knowledge for a hell of a long time that MA would be a no no... so why has everything been left till the last minute... this is what it seems like!)

Then as soon as Nicolas announces a change of venue all of a sudden, you have your venue confirmed?? Is it me or what??

If the venue is now confirmed then you can share the location?

I can totally understand Nicolas's decison for changing the venue, as nothing had been confirmed he had to think of others, as everyone especially the overseas visitors need to make plans because as we all know things get more expensive nearer the date and booked up..

I booked my Towcester Travelodge ages ago and got it for £13.50 a night.. bargain!

Im just glad something is now set in stone... i would love to attend your new venue but have already booked and paid for petit and as Ardent is just over an hour away for me its a no brainer for me...

I dont think starting an anti-petit race thread is going to help anyone!

Not sure if this is aimed at me nick but I haven't been involved with the organisation of the new Silverstone venues due to family problems.

However I know matt on John were working hard to find venues which they have now done. Matt told everyone to be patient and I'm sure he said somewhere that a venue would be announced this week. As all the Silverstone committee found out the venue had changed along with everyone else today at the same time the venue matt was looking at was confirmed. obviously it's nicolas event and he made the final decision on the venue, wether people think its right or not it was Nicholas decision.

All I know is the venue was about 20 minutes from Silverstone. As for the other meeting being talked about (that's all it is at the minute) the club have a venue we need to use, matt has worked hard to get the venue so makes ence to use it,

Let's hang on a minute.....

Firstly, we (SRCMCC) are not starting any anti Petit race thread. Also the only people who knew what was officially happening to Moto Arena were (Silverstone circuit) who own the facility. And they were the people i myself was dealing with direct, they was 95% sure there would be no issue.
Then 2 weeks ago they emailed to say it was finished (the same day it was announced on TV the Silverstone/tresham college are going to build a motorsports college) on the site which MA sits on. Perhaps that is why they didn't tell us straight away ??? RC event worth £800 or something worth millions!!!

Silverstone club took on the event that was given to MA and have worked very hard to secure a good enough venue. And it was confirmed today... again another multi million pound company who owns it, but they have agreed to support us. So we now have a venue, and rather than letting money go up in smoke, we are looking to do something for the people who have booked hotels/don't want to travel to Ardent etc.. What people decide to do is up to them.

After all it's toy car racing

Hi Nic,

I didn't want to get in to this really, however I was awaiting your input!

This may seem coincidence to you, but please just take my word for it as final that we were asked to keep the venue a secret (people have forgotten what secret means) regarding location and we did just that. After reacting rather aggressively (and getting an earful from the wife!) regarding the news about the change of petit venue, I received a call from my contact 2 hours later saying 'all done' and we're having final walk round tomorrow. We did make this very clear to the people that needed to know and I apologise that you weren't on the list!

Think John has explained about MA, although I'm sure your information is much more accurate

Ive emailed Nicolas asking for a full refund. Im not too happy that the venue has changed from Silverstione to Ardent at the last minute, which lets face it was not as fantastic as the last event at maritime. Its too far for me to go to. Gutted.

Yep, same here.

Just got refund - only asked on Friday so all good:)

Did not have a problem with it being at Ardent as I thought they did a really good job last year but I have non-refundable accommodation at Silverstone so new event there is brilliant.

Sure both events will be successes and if the entries for MK GP are any guide I would not be surprised if both events are full.

I just would like to add some words about my decision and why the PETITRC RACE is moved to Ardent:

I’m the first very disappointed with that ! I lost ALSO my 4 nights hotel (no refund!).

I trust to Silverstone members and when Jon Spencer told me Moto-Arena is not sure, he told me all the time “don’t worry we have another venue” and I said OK at the end of September.
Jon told me he visited this new venue and explain me that is great, huge, etc. I said to him "OK we will do there!"
BUT the 1st mistake was they didn’t have the idea to ask the price of this venue and when I decided to go there, Jon told me £4000 for the venue 15 days ago. He told me he will negociate with the chairman and let me then without news during 10 days. I emailed and emailed… but no replies. And on last wednesday I catched him on FB and asked him one more time what's news, what's problems and he told me, the price is now £6000 !!!!!!! Well I trust to Silverstone with their “secured venue” since september and the result: NOTHING was secured! How I must pay £6000 now?????
From this moment, I told to Jon that I will look for another venue (Ardent or others venue) because I lost many time and a big event like the PETITRC take a lot of time to prepare. (I've a family, childrens, a job, 1 website and not often at home also). Jon told me they are looking for 1 another venue who seems huge but on Wednesday evening, nothing was also secured from his side and he wait for also some news and doesn't know when he will get these news (like other venue at £6000 that it takes 15 days).
He proposes me also to move dates to 7th and 8th of January for a venue that they found. But I refused and explained that some people have booked in planes and hotels and I wanted NOT that all of people lost all of that.

Then I told him you look for from your side and I look for my side.
Last Thursday Ardent replied me in first to accept to host the event like this year. And then I contacted Jon to inform of that.

I hope now that you can understand why I decided to move and find another “secured” venue myself. I trust to Jon and his club all the time but at 1 moment, you need to take a decision because nothing was. The event was/is in 2 months 1/2.

I lost also 4 hotel-nights non-refundable and like some of you, not very happy with that of course.

The PETITRC RACE at Ardent racing Raceway will be the last in England.

Thank you for all support some of you emailed,PM'ed ect.

Sorry for the inconveniences and thank you for your understanding.
I wishes you all the best to Everybody, I love your country and all people already met.

Have a good evening.
Best regards,
Nicolas Petit

Just like to say from me personally,

I am not going to point fingers etc.. as i believe the people that organise meetings for us RC racers, are heroes in our sport. SRCMCC do it for nothing, sometimes a loss, so i know first hand.

I think in some emails/messages between me and Nicolas there must have been some miss interpretation.
If anyone at any point wants facts etc i can show all emails and communication between myself, organisers, venues etc...

I am sure the Petit will be a success as normal where ever it is, and long may it continue.

I myself hace opted out due tO Ardent being chosen, however i must point out poor Nicolas has been at the brunt end of this, when in fact it wasnt his fault to start with. Maybe if he was informed from the start he wouldnt have had to do what he did. Still its going to be a great event and Nicolas i will get a good picture at the next event if at a different venue.

It's all about COMMUNICATION! and it looks like there has been none by either party here

Pettit man should have given deadlines for a venue with a back up as reserve

Silverstone should have never trusted mickey mouse and donald duck at Moto Arena

Having said that I have never been to a bad meeting run by the Silverstone crew, they put on a great job every single time, no matter where it is. They are racers and think like racers and put on a metting for racers.

Lesson learnt I hope

The controlled tyre for the Petit Race will be the new dBoots NanoByte tyre.
A tyre we have been working on specifically for the Euro indoor scene. The tyre has proved really good in testing. They've been run on numerous tracks on the Prima Felt GT carpet. Those who have seen them know how good they are.

What inserts work best in them? When will they be on sale?(rc disco) and will they be two compounds A and B?

Really I dont understand whats the point on all this.
Are you trying smashing petit race?is it because its on Ardent Raceway and you(british) dont like them?Or because main sponsor is Durango and not Schumacher?
Really I dont understand, the ones who should be very upset were European drivers and those aparently accepted the change without many issues arranged new hotels, will drive more on the wrong side of the road to get to new location...and so on.

Sorry for the post but thats enough. You dont want to attend a great event on your country for the 4th year, just dont go.

Im still going to Petit and looking forward to it as are many others..

Ive got a room booked for 2 nights at Silverstone Travelodge...this is of no use to me now... even if i changed my mind and did area 51 gp this would still be of no use to me as its 44mins 25 miles away from the new venue!

Considering we were told if Moto Arena wasnt available dont worry as the new venue is only 10 mins away still book accomodation etc so this wasnt true either?? Swings and roundabouts isnt it?

How much time should Nicolas give folk anyway?? People have obviously waited to see how popular Area51 and then made there decision to cancel??

As for the other thread about whos lost money... UNBELIEVABLE springs to mind!

Some people dont seem to realise how much is involved in stageing such a meeting.. most turn up, race, then go home!

Whether its Petit or Area51 or any club infact there is alot work done behind the scenes so i wish people would appreciate it instead of going on and on..

Nick

Same here on the room, useless regardless. Especially as we were told it would be in the Northants area so we took that word and booked.

How much time should he give ? Good question, I would say as the venue has moved outside of what is a reasonable travelling distance from the hotels booked on a non refundable basis then there should not be a close date.

The fact remains that we booked in good faith to attend an event in that area, some may be able to afford to disregard the hotel and additional travelling cost but I for one cannot.

The area51 event i believe has spawned by the fact that petit cannot for whatever reason hold the event as promised in the original area and therefore many such as yourself are stuck with hotels that are now 25 miles from a venue or 150 miles from a venue and have to make a choice.

It definitely is swings and roundabouts but again I will not just lose money for something that has changed by no fault of my own.

As for the other thread, agree bit early to start ranting about who has lost what and as I replied Im sure Nicolas has plenty of people queuing to get into his great events and will gladly sort us out, I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Not directed at you, just My two pence worth anyway, hoping Petit 2013 isn't too far away

Im a bit confused by this thread now. The Petit race was going to be at MA, run by the Silverstone club, then the MA dropped out, The Silverstone club then said they would find another venue close by so people could stay at the hotel they already paid for. Then Silverstone club took ages tellin Nicolas if they had a venue, then when they did find a venue said it was 6k or something like that. Nicolas took the decision to move ot to Ardent so there was at least going to be a race. The Silverstone Club decided to have this Area 51 race on thee same day as the Petit race saying it wass only so people that already paid for hotels could still use them. Now people are slagging Nicolas off wanting a refund blaming him for the event moving??? Are you lot for real? Please tell me what Nicolas has done wrong.
Now a lot of people have booked in for this area51 race and booked hotels for a track thats never been raced on, a building thats never been used?
All this seems crazy to me.

I understand what you guys are saying but all the anger seems to be pointed at Nicolas when it wasnt him that causec this problem.

Why hasnt it been said that Petit has been treated baddly by these clubs that agreed to hold his meeting.
Why hasnt anyone said how wrong it is to hold a meeting on the same day just to spite Petit Rc as being wrrong.
Why hasnt anyone said that the venue area 51 is at is miles away from where they saaid it would be, so like Nic said it would take him 45 minuetes to get to the venue from his hotel. I also believe the amount of people that had booked a hotel was a small proportion of people.

I never even knew there was a cancellation date as I hadnt entered. It does seem that peoplee are focusing on what they believe Nicolas has done wrong and Im saying that what about the way he was trreated? Is it fair that he had to move his meeting and then area 51 meetting was born and has gone directly in compettition with the Pettit race probably directly causing most of the drivers to cancel Petit and enter the area 51 race. Thus taking money away from Petit. This doesnt seem right to me!!!

Like I said I think it's a big shame but no one is to know what was said and what wasn't. The fact that all the drivers were informed of cancellation prior to Silverstone crew is a bit of a factor though DC.
I said this before that there shouldn't be a problem in other clubs putting on events when there are big meetings elsewhere as that gives people the choice where to go. If like some of us we want to compete with the best then we go there - if some feel they don't want to do that then go elsewhere - Let the drivers decide - simples! :)

Trouble is no one knows the ins and outs of what went on behind the scenes other than Silverstone club and petit.

But the simple explanation is.

Moto arena let SRCMCC down, we tried to find a venue near or as close to moto arena as possible (which was done) Nicholas was told that we had found a venue and were awaiting confirmation (he was told a date they should know by). Nicholas then moved the petit (which then the venue conformed 2 hours later, which was thursday and nicholas was told he would hear by the Friday). That's about the jist of it and the figures that he was asked for 6k to run the event are mad. Silverstone had the venue confirmed and makes sence to use it after weeks of sorting it out.

If you want to do the petit do the petit if you want to do area 51 do area 51 if you want to stay home and chat about it on a forum then do so.

Your right other clubs should be able to put on other meetings. But this meeting was born to go directly against Petit almost like Silverstone were gonna show Nicolas for moving to Ardent. Seems very unfriendly to me.

Also you say no one is to know what was said, Paul has quoted that Petit moved the meeting 2 hours before the new venue was announced! Also Nicolas said he was told the venue was gonna be 6k. There has been a lot said.

I have watched this thread all the way through from "Whos going" and "cant wait for this one" and now it has ended up with a lot of people slagging Nicolas off when I cant really see what he has done wrong! And yes don't throw the he changed the refund date and this is so wrong, I even read one guy said he was going to confront Nicolas on the day! Yes I agree this is wrong for him to move the refund date, but he may have a good reason for this. Don't you think we should give him a chance to reply? After all he is the one that tried to put a meeting on and had MA drop him in it and Silverstone now going head to head with him.

What do we think? lets make this the biggest indoor offroad event ever! European and world class drivers... Scotty Ernst.. BBK Rob...

I have the venue more than capable of hosting such an event!

I've just entered the Petit race, should be a great meeting.

Normally indoor on carpet I'd be running the yellow Mini Pin but I notice the controlled tyre brand is Dboots. I don't have any experience with those so could anyone offer any advice as which is the best tyre and compound to run for 2 and 4wd?

Thanks.

As confirmed the control tyre are the dBoots Nanobyte tyre.

Ok cool, thanks. I thought I'd seen on the Petit site something about an open choice of the range, but I am mistaken.

I assume there's also a controlled compound then?

Thanks very much.

Copied from the Petit website:

Tyres : ONLY Dboots tyres (front & rear) - Nanobyte tyres recommended

So yes it would appear you can use any dBoots tyre.

dBoots tyres can be bought from www.rcdisco.com (http://www.rcdisco.com) or you local model shop.

I dont think the Nanobyte tyre's are on sale yet, but would imagine something will be announced asap and they should be available on the day.

Hi All,

Really looking forward to this event. I'd just like some information about the tyres.

Is the Dboots control tyre only for the drive axle, so a free choice on 2wd front?

And the recommended tyre is the Nanobyte, when is that going to be in the shops, still no information on RC disco's website. It'd be nice to do some practice with this new tyre before the event.

Also is there a list of driver confirmed, I've noticed some drivers that are listed on the Petit site are also listed as attending Area 51?

Thanks.

PM estebandonde and ask where he got some as his son Charlie used some at Silverstone club last night.

I think there will be a trackside shop selling them. So i guess i'll be taking them from there.
Does anybody know if they wear on carpet? Do i need one set or more?

I know they'll be available at the venue so you'll be fine! The tyres look really good and I believe lasted really well even on our extremely harsh carpet last night. If it was me I'd want at least a couple of sets (minimum) for a major meeting and then use them elsewhere if still useable.

Just to let everyone know ive had it on good authority that Nanobytes will be available on the day.

Ive tested these tyres on a few tracks and they are really good, especially on carpet.

Wear rate is good and you should be able to complete a full meeting on one set, 2 sets if you wanna be on the pace all day.

There very much like Schumacher minipins so yes you can cut off some outer front spikes if you wanna calm the steering down.

Just spent some time reading right through this thred from the start, had to smile a bit.

I raced at petit for the 1st time last year, now i've be playing with toy cars for way to long and in my 25+ years of racing I have been lucky enough to race in some very high profile meetings euros, worlds warmups etc etc.

when I read the poster/details type info about the meeting,I thought " yer will have some of that!" expecting a great meeting, well organised with great track for the money..so mutch so I drove from norfolk and back in 1 day to do 2wd.

Now the venue was great, hats off to ardent:thumbsup:

But as for the meeting:o.1st was the secret carpet...that was pants,Then there was the venue being open on the day before for practice, announced very late so most were unable to make use of it,then there was the way it was run, start line was a shambles and no one seemed to run the track.
Then there was the world class off road track...flat apart from a couple of small woodern bumps,a banked bend, and one of the worst jumps ever, put in the worst place ever.
then waited for hours to get a teshirt, this was a scrum down at the end. Oh and the raffle, some top prizes, but so badly run.

I'm sorry,I know meetings are hard to organise, but if you have rob from bbk running the meeting time keeping what else was mr petit doing ?

So this year I didn't bother, and I'm glad after reading this, most of it I can just about see why it all went tits up between clubs and venues etc, but changing the cancalation dates after the venue change is wrong, very wrong and shows no regard/respect for your meeting entrants.also edditing posts on his forum regarding venues so it looks like nothing has changed. and finaly it looks as if offering cheep entrys at the end? like was said what do those who entred at the begining, and stuck with it all the way get?? oh yer and the paypal gift thing was a bit hmmm

Not in the uk again...good job,I'm sorry Mr petit go take a look at offroad wars, and see how it can be done, or worksop, or the oople event (but I've never raced at that one:()

I'm another with 25 plus years racing and I agree that the track was good last year apart from the stupid jump which made position on the rostrum biast towards one end. Take heed Ardent.
However, Ardent is one of the finest facilities in the U.K
I have done 3 out of the last 4 petit's including the last one in Paris (2007) and have to say that Nicolas runs a first class event and deserves far more credit then he has been getting.
Anyone who has been to any of the Petit's preceeding last year would, I think, agree with me and thats why I'm going back again even though area 51 is far closer.
Roll on Petit 2012

I can only comment on last year,as that was the one I attended,if the ones before were far better,I hope for those that are racing this year is back to normal then:).
