These tyres would NOT have made it a level playing field they would have merely made the gap between the top drivers and the bottom drivers bigger. Control tyres are great, especially when they are included in the entry fee, but they do actually have to work or it becomes pointless.

Good decision by the organisers, just a few weeks later than it should have been though :)

Ok guys rant over. The gp will be awesome and of course I will not be requiring any money back ,as showtime says let's give to a good cause.

Can they really buy turf rippers at £3.00? :eh?: that,s one hell of a mark up on the RRP!!
Perhaps Ballistic buggy or Schumacher racing would like to sponsor the event or offer a discounted tyre price.
Still attending though :thumbsup::)

CML were providing the tyres at a discounted rate as part of there sponsorship of the MKGP.

I wish we could buy them for £1.50 a pair to sell in the shop but sadly they cost us a lot more than that....

With it being open tyres now people who are going to another indoor race will be able to use the tyres as most tracks use yellows even if this is an open tyre event

If anyone thinks £15 for a days racing is over price then I think your crazy....
How many other activities around the world are this cheap?

Many extremely well supported hobbies cost a lot more!

Support your hobby, stop trying to batten it down...what would you pay to race outdoor? £8? For a track that's already set up and needs minimal funds to run for the day...
I would pay another £7 to be warm and attending a meeting that's filled with a great depth of drivers....

Anyway, I think this choice is perfect. The tire may have made the event bad for more people than it would have pleased. You can still use your turf rippers outdoors? They will never wear out that's for sure!
It's going to be a pin or spike tire, which we all have anyway!!!!

Lee Martin, good morning to you too!! :) LOL
I think you are right. £15 for a big indoor event is fine - Actually it's £12 now - LOL

I normally pay more than that to get to the event :) and at least the venue is not changing some 150 miles away :)

We raced out doors yesterday in the rain and paid £10.00 so in the dry and warm is well worth £15.00 and the fact we can now use tyres we have all raced on indoors is a bonus  The top guys will be quick running on rims with out tyres on so will be good to watch them if nothing else...

I agree £15, or even £12, is fine.

However it is also true that for those who purchase tyres at retail prices the cost of attending the event has actually just increased by approximately £12. (The cost of a set of tyres minus £3)

Just an observation. :)

I'm sure there will be another fastrax event in 2012, so I'll just put my tyres in a draw and leave it at that. One of life's little things.

I need some mini pins, so better order some up lol.

If people don't like it, cancel. I'm not fussed about the tyre change after reflecting over the weekend.

Indeed as much as I really enjoyed yesterday racing outside in the wet, I'm looking forward to racing in the warm and dry :)

Roll on MK GP.

Neil, put my £3 towards a decent charity, stroke, cancer or help the heroes is my pref.

many thoughts.
Yes its still a decent price for a decent all day indoor event.
OK, we can moan about the control tyre but all on the same rubber means its about set up and driving the cars.
OK, if we coose the rubber we want/like then we are happier driving our buggies anyway!
Either way, the top drivers will be top, and the rest will follow, always has been and always will be.
So, lets be happy, give the little money there is left over to a decent charity and have a GREAT day/weekend Racing.

This is if you want it to be, a very cheap hobby, If you want to spend loads then you can as well.
Either one you do, its a great time had, great racing at all levels and where can you have a fun day out for £10 to £15.??? No where really(not including little misshaps of course)

So MK and Dudders, keep my £6 and give to the help for heroes if i can choose. or share it.

I am a great supporter of charities and they need the help.

Doing Movember tash growing for testicular/prostate cancer support, so if anyone wants to donate, look me on Facebook, or donate at

See you all at the MKGP with whatever "rubber" you fancy wearing for the day!!!!

Please put my £3 wherever you like, chaps.

Can I just commend all involved for making this decision which can't have been easy!! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however in mine you got this one right.

As Lee and others have stated earlier, people would be shocked at the costs involved in running a special meeting such as this one as I've no doubt it'll be one to remember!

MK team, if it wasn't for people like you then we wouldn't have anywhere to race so please just ignore any negativity (hard I know) and keep up the fantastic work you're all doing.

Really looking forward to this. Hopefully with new car, biscuits!!!;)

Not having raced on carpet since the last MK GP what is the prefered tyre of choice as there are some more alternatives to Schumacher yellows.
Dboots? compound and tread pattern?
Ballistic buggy? compound and tread pattern?
Schumacher? compound and tread pattern?

Good news about the tires.

Top Idea on the charity donation also. It is just a shame the smaller charities like Limb Care Don't get a look in as the Giants like help the heros seem to get the Lions share, although very worthy they get a vast amount of donatios where the smaller ones are left struggling.

Just my 2p worth and of course you can keep my £3 from both days.

Ballistic buggy? compound and tread pattern?
Schumacher? compound and tread pattern?

You can run any of the above but as a starting point I would suggust shuy mini pins rear/front for 4wd and staggered ribs for front 2wd.
The DBoots and BB's maybe really good but not tried either on carpet so difficult to comment.
I know to some the change of tyre rule has been a pain and again we apoplogise BUT it was a an important move to ensure all drivers enjoy the weekend ;)

The decision was made Chef not to allow a 2wd to run in a 4wd class for numerous reasons. If a car breaks during a race meeting and cant be fixed then of course, we wont send anyone home from the GP, so we'd let a different car race in this circumstance. But to enter without the right car in my opinon is'nt right. Anyway, Jonathon now has a 4wd so all good. All happy, lets move on now....

a) If you can race in National and International events with a 2wd in a 4wd event so long as it meets the weight limits then that makes your opinion wrong.

b) Interesting you gave a much better and longer explaination here than the stupid pm you sent me

Tony, this isn't a national or international meeting though and also this issue has been decided on and now finished. The person in question now has a 4wd.

As you know my pm to you last week was written in a rush while mobile, which I and another have explained to you. Therefore it might have been direct and straight to the point.

As far as I am concerned its time to move on from this and enjoy a cracking weekends racing.

Practice is timed in heat order, so no free practice session as such. So the first heat will go off at 8.00am for their practice for 5 mins

Rob & Grant have been working hard to make sure the heat seeding is as good as we can get, Hopefully heats will have people of the same ability in them, plus we do have John as ref so this will help the faster guys in each heat.

Rob & Grant have done the heats like this as if all the cars in the heat are the same pace you end up tripping over each other. We have a BRCA ref at the event & he will call faster cars through.

Hi mark if the heats are organised in that manner then surely the boys in the top 2 qualifying heats. Should also be spread which won't be the case. Heats should have been organised on practise times just my opinion I understand its hard work organising. A meeting

James,

Top heats have been split up, top 2 heats are all F1 grade.

In an ideal world, yes you would re seed, but this would add more time & means racing would not finish till very late.

It was hard for the guys to work out heats as some people were over eager on there ability, not many put below a 7, this makes it hard to grade the lower heats, they also used the BRCA F grading list.

The heat listings have been re done and re uploaded and they are available via the original links as shown above in RR's post. It is a very difficult job of trying to organise drivers into the correct heat and it never is 100% correct. I am sure as we have an actual referee to ask drivers to move over this will make it as fair as possible and if there are some drivers that are faster than others then we will try our best to make changes before we go into qualifying. We are trying to make this a great event for you and have spent many hours going over this. Any adjustments or queries please contact Rob Rasey (rob8246).

If people were over eager when grading themselves then sorting on practise would solve that issue. Also I know the f1 graded drivers have earnt that status but they surely they should be mixed in just as everyone else has been.
I understand reorganising would take time but personally I would rather stay late and have a good days racing than get taken off by a back marker.

Loving all the comments about the heat listings at the end of the day if your good enough you can do it from any heat. I hope we don't get any of the attitude that's been on this thread as above all we are grown men playing with toy cars and this I meant to be a fun event not a national. Just all chill out and smile and whatever does or doesn't happen it will be fun :thumbsup: Team useless I hope you will all be wearing the team t shirts and racing in our spirit:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I gladly admit I might have put a higher skill level than I 'deserved' and was surprised at the high heat I was in, but to be fair to me.. there's no where I can see thats got a guide to the skill level and thought the value of 9 out of 15 was ok for a shrccc summer 'regular' B finalist, but was then shocked by the lower levels that folk who regularily beat me put down... So I pm'd Dudders and done a swap with Kris... So Adam, we're now in the same heat and we can have some good clean battles like we did over the summer, bring it on 'team driver'!!!

second, what time does the place open on the sunday?

Sensible questions, like it.

Power is not an issue but bring extension lead as normal. NO trailing cables on the floor though please.
Doors open 06.45 Saturday/Sunday.

See you then ;)

Adam, you appeared to bribe dudders well enough to turn a blind eye to it over the summer, so I reckon you'll be all right!

Steve a few pages back there was the timetable along with the heats linked, which started all this discussion... I think doors open 6.45am each day... Not sure about powerpoints or cables...

WOW !!
Why is everyone questioning the heats.
Look fine to me and let me give you all a small tip!
If you happen to be in a lower heat it means you will be winning that heat (if you're good enough of course) and that means you will get ALL the help from our National Head referee John.
That means help through traffic etc etc .
Or in a higher heat and getting beaten by 9 other cars and no help apart from shouts of 'get out the way'.

Think about it lads :)
God save me - LOL

I am sure this will be a fine meeting to be remembered for a long long time..........
