Wow! Very original & cool paintjobs there man!!! Done yourself?
And what shell is that cab forward on the DEX410?
Sorry for my late answer :
- Yes I made it myself; Mikovic is a friend of mine and made the original design.
- The DEX410 with the cab Forward is the Tresrey Bodyshell, some people like it and some other don't...:D

Here is a few pictures of my newly finished DEX210. No problems where encountered during the build, except a few missing screws (no problem as I have a large inventory of screws from tonys screws). I still have to fit the motor/esc/rx and glue the tires.
The car is stock except that I have fitted the Tamiya #51000 hi torque servo saver. Hopefully this will reduce the problem with the front links popping of.
The car will be run on a tight indoor carpet track.
Finally got the body back from the painter today. I love the original body, and the shape actually looks much better then transparent:p

Took the car out for its first club race this weekend, an boy was it awesome. Car was super smooth and very easy to drive. I ran the shorty pack an I could really fell the difference between it an the standard pack. I was very happy with the way the car performed on it first outing an I can't wait to get back to the track :D. I have attached a few pictures and my set-up.

Make all the excuses you want, it's still just plain lazy or a total lack of imagination :p
And nobody needs to see multiple views of a plain white paint job.
I think this bodyshell gets away with one colour paint schemes and the white looks great!
At the end of the day, it's got nothing to do with anyone else so why you bothered? I think my new colour scheme will be plain white.

Im thinking about a matt black, I think it will look kuel
Matt effect paint of dulling the shell down ROCKS ! It's super kewl but it's not very practical, they don't clean up great and if you put a matt clear on them it will gradually come off and if you scuff the shell to get the effect it's very very difficult to get it even.
Such a pity as it looks so brilliant and gives an extra edge to the design. That said, just matt black would be a bit too plain. Area's of matt black pin striped with a neon orange with some proper glittery bits, now that would be great !
Give me a shout if you want it done

I still get a bit surprised that people don't use the opportunity to use the advantage Durango thought of.
The 210 is supposed to be easy to change from mid to rear engine. But still i see people building their cars in mid configuration with motor cables not long enough. Is it just to win the "nicest cable install"
Fernandez
04-01-2012, 10:11 AM
I like to keep the cables long, so that I can build all configs without the need for new wires.

Following what other locals have told me they only tend to run MM4 so thats why mine is wired like it is.
TBH the cost of the kit is so small if i wanted a RM setup i'd just buy another kit i think.
Gotta love a tidy install though !

I'm sure I have posted something of this theme previously but....is the 210 shell the most paint friendly shell out there? By that I mean it seems that no matter what colour scheme and theme you throw at this beast it looks like a cross between ED209 from RoboCop and a Formula 1 full scale car from 2040!
I'm completely sold on the Tron styling and it seems that Durango have created a soon to be classic new school shape. Love it. Well done every person who has taken the time in creating some beautiful paintwork on this shell so far...long may they continue.:thumbsup:

I'm surprised no one has taken the opportunity to use the obvious space under the servo.
When i build the kit i thought "oh, Durango will soon come with a weight in this space", but no... And i haven't seen anyone else either, strange...
So what to do?
Make it your own! 22g will fit instead of the 320141-4 plastic piece :)
So, Durango, RC Lacy, Cream and all other 3rd party makers, wake up

seem to find them anywhere, could someone please point me in the rite direction as I need to send a shell to Ian as soon as I can because there is a long waiting list and would like it done for when I start racing in march maybe april, the sooner the better though

There are no official cab foward shells
There are:
The official original
Bugelboy shells
Tresery shells
then there are the shells from other brands like mine from a koysho.
However proline is releasing a bulldog shell soon for the 210 and 410 as you have seen in this thread

can anyone show a pic of the under of that kyosho bulldog shell on the 410?
for e.g could you use velcro around the shell , is it a tight fit?
OneKiwi
30-01-2012, 11:48 AM
Sorry no velcro on that at the widest its still about 1cm from the buggys sides.
So its clips which is ok, rather clips than a DNF because of the shell coming off

looks like you could still use velcro, not to much clearance between chassis and shell?
OneKiwi
01-02-2012, 07:36 AM
Theres about 1cm, if you can get strong enough velcro you might beable to force it but I wouldn't clips aren't a big pain when the chassis looks that good:woot:

Jim, are you using Losi or JC ball cups ? How close are the rear links to the shocks with not using the angled Durango cups ? Cheers in advance :)

Hey Stegger....
I'm using the losi HD ball cups and Schumacher BAll ends...
There seems to be loads of room between the shocks and the Turnbuckles, but the inner cup does rub the spurgear cover slightly....
Hope that helps

Here's mine.
I'm really pleased with the car. It's very good on carpet (haven't tried anything else yet).
It's got a HobbyWing XERUN 120A ESC, Speed Passion V3 8.5T motor and a Savox 1258TG servo. It's controlled by a Futaba 4PKS TX.
Painted by myself.

Got mine all painted up now.
My masking was quite bad, a fair few bleeds and dodgy looking corners and lines.
Was me first body I painted myself though.
Got a few stickers over it now, with the wing painted in solid gun metal grey.
Not sure if I should dye the rims pink or not (I have white rims aswell).
I also missed one bit of masking before taking the photos too.

I like the design, did you use liquid mask or tape ? - Tape I would guess ? If you'd used LM that wouldn't have happened. Jon at RCS sells the best stuff.
Dye the wheels pink, it'll really stand out on track then !

Ta mate, yeah I was after something that wasnt extreme or overly complicated looking (I dont go much on them).
Yeah I used tape, wishing I used liquid mask now, would have been so much quicker and easier.
RCS's stuff comes quite highly recommended, always reading of people who say its great.
Will try and get some for me next body.
Haha, yeah that was the other part of this body, I wanted to to kinda stand out a bit.
Rit Dye Fuchsia I reckon is the go, been meaning to get some.
Heres a pic with the lid off too.
So much easier and cleaner with a shorty lipo.

I have a new 210 close to running. I still have to adjust the turnbuckles (built to the manual-spec that I hear is incorrect), switch the orientation of the dif (I put it in the wrong way - r/l is backwards), and glue the tires. The paint is:

I read somewhere on here:

that the online-manual has a number of corrected mistakes that show up in the kit-manual.

A few pics of my younger brother's pair of DEX210's. Both cars are fitted with Tresrey front bulkheads, clamping hexes, preload collars, thumbscrews, RF hinge pin blocks, and red shim kits, as well as Cream F/R towers, battery weight and under servo weight. The car on the left has the 8 Racing +8 CF chassis and the car on the right has the 8 Racing standard length CF chassis.
Tomorrow is the maiden voyage for the cars with the new CF chassis installed.

Well after 6 years away I am at last returning to the rc racing fold.....
After much thought and deliberation I decided to go for the Durango DEX210, managed to get one second hand ( only had 2 runs indoor's ) and decided to add my own little touch's to it....
Gone a little over budget but I'm happy with the result :)

Ooops....the Tresrey bits do look nice, more "bling" than functional. Motor plate is very good as it's thicker than the original so should remove the heat from the motor better.

I got the motor plate and at first thought the same, but if you compare it to the kit one it's the same, and with good reason too if you think about the slipper assembly.
It is milled though which gives greater surface area to dissipate the heat.
It's 90% bling - the one really useful thing is the plastic spacer is made redundant by a metal equivalent which is threaded into the motor plate ... Makes rebuilds easier.
