Thinking the same for a while now. Hopefully Jimmy will find some time to do or upload some new (or old) Jimmy style reports, too. Both maybe kinda connected. Euros 2015 sound quite promising for a new one so far...
Wouldn´t complain if someone else would do some small reports of some simpler sort and put it in the general section. Just nice to read about races, watch some pics or vids and 2013 has been the year with the least amount of reports on here by far. That´s what I´d like to see/ come back most, besides new cars and Darren´s and Hara´s sensation moves to Nikko.

Ha ha know the feeling ! Until Yoda of oOple gets back on his feet it needs other people to contribute, and people do. But it needs input so it fires conversation. I miss B-MAG

Is it that people have migrated to FB and Twatter? There are apparently lots of FB groups on RC these days that seem to generate a lot of participation. They also seem to generate more heat than light, so Oople is still beacon of the sensible and informative.

It's all new people coming into the hobby. Don't moan, if they weren't coming in, the hobby would die on its arse.

I'm with Col here: What's 'best' is extremely subjective and what's best is purely down to personal preference - that's why all cars are designed with unique selling points/USP's. Just some generalizing examples:

- Durangos are more adjustable than the competition out of the box.
- Team C offers the same specs on paper for a lower price than the competition.
- Xray identifies themselves with having the latest updates and specs available to customers.

State what you're looking for (except from 'the fastest car'), and people can contribute. Subject of the topic aside, similar topics are being posted again and again. It seems people aren't trying much to even look around if something's been discussed before, neither on the forum or trawling through manuals to see how it's built up.

That said, there are a few things that may be part of the cause of such posts popping up so often. For one, the search function doesn't accept short words like 'best', or a model type. This can be very frustrating when you're trying to use the search function for all Schumacher K1's for sale on oOple, or when you're trying to figure if there's been a topic before covering what servos people in use in their SV2.

Speaking of electronics, where is there reference material that reviews them? It seems there is little than can guide you to the electronics that offer you the best chances of surviving a couple of seasons without getting a loan to buy them.

You can thoroughly check a car's design in a manual, on the track and even try someone's car out before you buy one. With electronics it's hard to judge what's beneith the anodizing, flashy stickers and the price tag. None of those things guarantee quality, and their designs are not published (and even if so, it's designs are probably not understood by the majority of it's users). The second hand value of electronics is poor because you can't clearly see wear or faults, and many people just can't take chances on buying an ESC that doesn't work for them - or worse, one that becomes a miniature volcano eruption two weeks after purchase

I guess I'm saying is that it might be nice to have a subforum where people can give ratings and reviews on products? Only reviews, build threads and objective stories allowed - all the utterly subjective ratings and posts are filtered out, like 'didn't like it' or 'best brand out there because they won the Worlds'. That, and a search function that does allow you to search with short keywords.

----------------------

These comments aside... oOple quieter? I feel it has become a little more quiet in the last month or two... but then again I have been checking oOple more and more often, and these things probably fluctuate a bit with the season and amount of events...

I'm with col here too!

Most of the people in here are adults so could search the forum!

Also, the majority also seem to have responsess from people they know saying, "the car you already have" or similar..

From my point of view it's the lowest common denominator of questions.. And should be punishable by public flogging.
