Default Is rear motor competative

Hi all, I was at Coventry a few months ago and was watching the 2wd qualifying heats and noticed a few guys with rear motor cars. One in particular was a red yokomo bmax and I was very impressed as it looked every bit as fast as the mid motor cars there. I believe Tom Cockerill won the meeting with a cat k1 with no front drive shafts but it got me thinking about having another go with a rear motor buggy. I bought a tc02evo and I race on carpet. It's easily able to compete with the mid motor cars there and I love using it. I hear all the time that rear motor just isn't as fast on astro and other high grip surfaces as mid motor so I wanted to ask if that is really the case ?. I myself would like to see more rear motor cars around.

IMO it's s bit skill dependant. The average Joe might be faster for him with rear motor as it's very easy to drive. Mid motor cars can be a handful sometimes...
