SC10 metric stub axles.
Just wondering if there is any kind of metric conversion around for the SC10, to change the stub axles to a metric thread?
Being different sizes front and rear and also different in size to my others is frustrating, silly idea by Associated to make it all different. I shall be changing over to a hex set up for some grippier tyres on the rear soon, so figured I'd do this at the same time, but I can't find anything that might fit. |

Hex conversion means the same size nuts front and rear - 8/32 - but nothing I'm aware of in the way of a metric conversion.
Back when the SC10 was first made, AE were only using imperial fittings. it's only more recently they've made the switch to metric.

Or is there an actual kit to convert to hex? If so, I don't suppose you have a part number or link to the kit? I was just going to put some hexes on the pins lol. |

JConcepts do a kit that coverts the front of your SC10 to hex stub axles.
At the moment the front bearings are in the wheels - with the hex conversion you get new steering arms that enclose the bearings, and the stub axle spins on those with new hex fittings. You just need to also find some 12mm rear hex drives to fit over the existing rear drive pins (minus the conical washer of course). Do a Google search for SC10 Hex Conversion - JConcepts do one, and I believe Avid do as well. It won't change everything over to metric, but you will be running the same size imperial nuts front and rear.

Thanks for that I will have a look now I know which brand make them.
The change to metric isn't hugely important if I can at least get them on hexes and the same size. Need some better tyres and would rather buy premounts than make a hash of gluing myself |

So far I've got this lot, aside from some hex wheels and wheelnuts, this is everything needed to make the swap isn't it?
Not sure on the size of the hex driver though, it says 11/32, but it came up as fitting the SC10 stock lol. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Associated...0AAOSwUgNXPL9O http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Associated...wAAOSw9eVXXFYg http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Arrowmax-N...gAAOSwH71XPLEC I just wanted to double check before ordering this lot and some new wheels and tyres. |

The hexes are wrong - those are for the 4x4 SC10.
11/32 hex driver is right - yes it's the same size as the original SC10 but once you convert the front over you need bigger wheel nuts. If you buy those stub axles you need the steering arms as well as they won't fit the original SC10 ones. This might be of interest: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Associated...kAAOxycmBSzuR~ All you'd need on top of this would be the rear hexes.

Which are the correct hexes for what I've got? I ordered all of the above anyway lol, don't really matter about the hexes as they were cheap so they can go in the spares box. |
