Hello.
Ive had a Cat 3000 siting in bits for the past couple of years and never thought I'd ever get around to building it till now. While I do own and am happy with my CAT SX I wanted to see if the 3000 will go the distance on my local race tracks. I have no idea how the car handles as I have only finished the build so Im wondering if anyone has any hints or tips for setting this car up for a loose dirt surface. Ive fitted a slipper set up and an alloy one way pulley for the front belt which Ive locked out with an optional pin arrangement. This car is a little bit similar to my 501x with regards to motor and battery placement and I have found that car very driveable in the past. Ok so I usualy run my rear ball diffs adjusted up to the point where they are still smooth but dont slip while the front is set the same but just a little tighter (hoping for a spool type effect here). I usualy run 35wt oil in the front shocks and 30wt in the rear and possibly yellow coils all round. The car is going to run 4200 lipo saddle's and a Speed Passion 10.5 v1.1 if that helps. My tyre of choice might be Hole Shots or Double Dee's which usualy work well enough here on most Aussie tracks. Anyone wish to share any opinions on this? Your help would be gratefuly appreciated. Many thanks in advance- Jason. |

Jason take the pin out of the pulley to use the one way, the car will be faster and drive like a 2 wheel buggy. Second I have been playing with Menace rear hubs for different camber link positions. On my track geared a 10.5 SP V3.0 84-26. I ran all grey springs on my Cat 2000 37.5 losi oil with Losi White piston(60) front and rear.

Thank you for the help Raul. I will look into removing the pin but I have to warn you that Im not the best 2WD racer. I remove all the one-ways in all my 4WD buggies and run full time 4WD. It seems to work well for me but I'll test the 3000 with the one way at some point.
Any weaknesses to the 3000? My 2000 seems almost bullet proof. The suspension arms are pretty darn solid. I will be getting this car sorted out soon also. Cheers-Jason |

I dont like the car with full time 4wd, also dont like the sway bar. My Cat 2000 is sort of a "Works" car: Alloy front and rear lower trans Slipper shaft w/ alloy oneway Alloy shock bottoms Steering mod Bump steer mod Upright towers CF Fiberlyte CF upper and lower deck B44 post and batt straps Ceramic diff balls ceramic bearings Bladed diffs steel driveshafts front and rear 5* yokes Kyosho front and rear SP wheels U1886 hexes Ti turnbuckles Ti ballstuds Aluminum nuts http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44905

Awesome! Looks very very similar to my 501x the way the
motor is placed. I bet it would still be competitive in the right hands. ![]()

Ive been waiting to give this car a run and decided to make the trip down to Sydney to join in on an informal day at the castle hill track.
I was suprised just how nice the 3000 is to drive and even with Cat mini spike tyres the car held its own around the slippery track surface. With some more appropriate rubber and a few suspesion tweaks I am confident this will be an even better car to drive. ![]() |

Thanks Luke. The Cat3000 rocks! I seriously had no idea this car would be soo cool to drive. Very reliable and planted even with tyres that arent considered to be competitive on our home tracks.
