Tyred and tested.
Dear peeps of the EoE. Looking to get a handle on what to have in the arsenal for 2013.
What is YOUR tyre recommendation for YOUR track in the EoE. Please show wet and dry choices. I can only comment on Colchesters flatter track with any confidence. Colchester. 4WD. Dry Rears: Schum Yellows Fronts: Schum Yellows Wet/Damp Ballistic Greens all round

I reckon a good base for every track would be:
Schumacher Mini Spikes in Yellow for the Dry Ballistic Buggy Spikes in Green for the wet / damp As I'm racing 2wd up front is likely to be Schumacher Cut Staggers in Yellow for the dry Schumacher Mini Spikes in Green for the wet / damp If I were running 4wd I'd match the fronts to the rears and just cut off spikes if I have too much grip!! And of course all my tires will have the fantastic Mr O Racing foam inserts in them. As we know the possibilities are endless. I have heard that Schumacher Mini Pins work well at Herts, but equally know that Ballistic Buggy Spikes work there. Similar is true with Boughton, with the summer series being a control tyre of Ballistic Buggy Spikes I would think a majority would have a comfortable set-up on them, but know that other tyre combinations are quicker.

On Coastal's current grass track dBoots Multibyte in compound A have been popular over the winter but I've also seen Schumacher & Ballistic Minispikes being used...
By the time the regional gets here there may be a new astro track surface & it might even be dry |

Tyres for MERCC
4wd dboots a compound rear,on the front schumacher mini spikes with the outer two rows cut off. 2wd rear the same as 4wd fronts if you can get a set then schumacher ribbed spikes are the tyres to have. I have three pairs 2 brand new and 1 worn set. So im sorted :-)) May part with a set but only to the essex boys, no carrot crunchers need apply:-)).

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking! Here's a good tip, Tamiya Rallyblocks are the tyre to have, they work on every track in any conditions! Trust me

Sorted the rally blocks as a control tyre could be fun

What about ARC???
For the newer racers in the region and those that don't get the humor above (probably me being boring but hey ho!) no bollocks, no duff information, I'll be running one of the following at all venues, most likely the first one on the list with the rest being a handy option depending on actual track conditions on the day. Dry:- Rear- Schumacher Mini Spikes in Yellow or Ballistic Buggy Spikes in White or Dboots Multibyte Front- Schumacher Narrow Low Profile Cut Staggers in Yellow or Schumacher Cut Staggers in Yellow Wet:- Rear- Ballistic Buggy Spikes in Green or Dboots Multibyte Front- Schumacher Mini Spikes in Green All with Mr 'O' Racing wide inserts in the rear and firms up front if required (no inserts needed in narrow low profile cut staggers) Shame there isn't a tyre rule what with there being a couple of new / returning venues on the calendar. Gets rid of the tire lottery

Fair points.
Ok - seriously. What I was trying to do was get away from the generic by gleaning the info from the track champs. That way it's up to date, it will be the best tyre for that surface and if they suggest a curveball they'll get called out. That way people could look at the preferred list and make their purchases on that info. ARC falls into 'generic' choice as it's a complete unknown. The tracks not finished yet. I was then going to publish that info for all to see and everyone can choose their own 'generic' set for their season. That was my thinking.

Thats the thanks you get Ben for trying to give people a heads up on what tyres to run. F..k em Ben let them make there own choice. Tyres that i will be using are worn minipins with drawing pins pushed through and taped on the inside. If i suffer grip roll then i will take the outside row of drawing pins out. Job done. Good for all surfaces.

I think you'd need to give a couple of choices, like a dry weather and wet weather tire. Personally I don't think Ballistics work everywhere, particularly when it comes to dry grass tracks. Although everyone would be in the same situation. It would also make car set-up more critical, which may or may not be a good thing.

Not sure why some of you lot think it's funny that Nic won the summer series, after all he did out point ALL of you who did enough rounds to count and there was a good number of you who did You all got beat fair and square
For Ben's question about tyres, last year I used BB greens to win the first round at Boughton in the wet, Schumacher yellow mini spikes to win the second round there and one round at Coastal, both in the dry. Used DBoots Mulitibites in A compound to win the last dry/damp round at Colchester. MERCC in the dry is DBoots time, nothing else really stays together long enough to finish a race there. Eastrax, not sure, haven't been there for 5 years or so, but BBs or Schuey minis should work. Herts is going to a tough one, yellow minis worked well last week in the cold and damp at the start, and in the dry later on. Some peeps were running micro spikes and were fast, but might be hard to hold on to for 5 mins. BB whites are supposed to work to. ARC, don't care, not going, unless I really have to

I put him down alongside Myally but, like so many, he suffered from a pre-submit deletion. I only post 10% of my inane dribble! Tyre rule I agree, but too late for this year. But, it would need to carry an exception: For 1st entry to someone new to regional racing and with rtr or kit tyres. A certain Brady is reason to why this is so important.
