Hi all.
The trinity 13.5 d4 1701m. Is this motor any good for blinky. How does it perform when it gets hot. Cheers Scott |

Think the D4 motors are regarded as 1 of the best available but it still comes down to gearing and driving style, 13.5 blinky is very popular in the US and becoming used more and more across Europe. RC tech can be a useful forum for gearing info on motor/chassis/track layout.
Personally I would start around 5 final drive with high end bell timing and run it for 10 laps, grab the motor if it's hot then drop the EBT if not try a pinion 2 teeth bigger or spur 2 smaller and try again, FDR = Spur/pinion * Internal Ratio E.g. 5 = 84/32*1.9 (Xray T3/T4) It's always a trial and error thing as tracks with limited full power area's don't tend to heat the motor too much but braking a lot can also create heat |

Is there different size diff pulleys then. Do you have to have same size pulleys on both diffs

What chassis do you have? Xray use 38t front and rear pulleys with 20t centre but other manufacturers use 36, 39, 40t so INternal ratio or IR are different between manufacturers, End Bell Timing or EBT is additional timing that can be added to your motor by rotating the sensor plate on your motor, the D4 has -10 to +60 degrees of EBT (there will be a sweet spot) the higher the timing the lower the torque as a rule, in blinky you need to find the sweet spot to get power without over heating , so as I said 5 FDR and 40ish EBT on blinky is only a guide maybe to high or low for your track (trial and error but don't start at FDR 3 and 60* as this will likely destroy your motor/fingers and inflict injuries on others!

I've got a bd7 15.
I'm understanding it now. (Slowly). I will have to get a selection of spur and pinions. What pitch does everyone use? |
