I'm just think that I'd have to replace more sooner going the RTR route, but maybe I'm wrong.

If I started with RTR would I then need to change the ESC when I want to get a better motor in there, and the RTR radio doesn't have so many features to geek around with.

If I get a good used B4 for around £100, get a good radio and good ESC thats a bit future proof, maybe not such a fast motor to start with, that might last me longer as my starter kit.

The ease of RTR is temping though, rather than buying separate bits, which would be more expensive, but I'd be left with better components I thought?
