Motor tips needed
Hi
At my local indoor track there's a small double jump my 2wd struggles to clear. I'm running 7.5t. There is no place on the track the car reaches topspeed. we run on a small tight carpet track. Would i be better off with 8.5t ? Would a 8.5t be punchier? Would it be smoother since i'm able to use the whole rpm range? Would bigger rotor help me out on the punch side? |

I would look at a few other things before you get a different motor, and a little bit more info that people may need inorder to help you out.
*Tyres, what are you using and what track surface are you running on? *What buggy are you running and what is your shock setup like? *How is your slipper set? How are your slipper pads? worn/new *What motor and esc do you have? *What settings do you have on the esc? *Gearing, what gearing are you running? |

If the car isn't reaching its top speed anywhere on the track but you're struggling to clear obstacles i'd say gear down to get faster acceleration, this might give you the punch you need.
I run a 7.5T in my 2WD outdoors (admittedly with plenty of boost and turbo timing) and TBH it's got more power than I can use so I wouldn't imagine the motor is the problem.

The above are both correct - a 7.5 should be plenty fast enough.
Another option to be looked at is your battery's. If they're old and knackered (or just low C rating) then that will massively restrict your punch levels.

Is your slipper slipping a lot when you punch the throttle? Try having someone hold the rear wheels and you punching the throttle as you do to his the jump. see if there is excessive slip. As suggested, try gearing down some, and give more details on your car, esc, batteries and settings.

Motor turnigy trackstar (reedy clone) 7.5T i also have the 5.5T and 8.5T in same series I located the main problem to be my diff/slipper setting. Still leaves me the question, should i put in my 8.5t? |
