Why is there so much hate over this discussion, if you are not interested in the future of the BRCA if there was a yes vote on thursday go do somthing else. |

The Kingdom of Great Britain is a conceptual country, formed by the Act of Union in 1707, which included Scotland, England and Wales. In 1801, the then Irish government joined this Kingdom, and it became the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The name changed again in 1922 when the Republic was formed and "UK" changed its name to put "Northern Ireland" in instead of "Ireland".
So, the UK, and Great Britain, are one and the same, and they are defined by a union, an alliance between constituent countries. If/When Scotland, or any of the other member country, decides to leave that union, then the union is redefined. The land mass doesn't define Great Britain. A contract does. So if Scotland leaves the UK, the landmass defined as Scotland, is no longer part of "Great Britain". |

Why would the future of the BRCA change if there was a Yes vote?

Quote:
Ireland is the island that includes The Republic of ireland and Northern Ireland. So geographically, Great Britain is always going to be Great Britain. The United Kingdom is the political creation. And this is why you will find references to "Great Britain and Northern Ireland" in certain contexts as Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain. Although the names associated with the UK are so complicated that we do tend to be casual about them which is why Great Britain is often assumed to be the same entity. PS Alex Salmond has been conspicuously avoiding the debate on the affiliation of RC racers, I suspect he realises that the passions roused by pride in the BRCA that could throw the "Yes" campaign into disarray. |

The BRCA is the UK's governing body of rc cars, if scotland leave the UK will it have to change? Thats the point Mark was asking, will it have to change and what to?

The actual date for Scottish independence should there be a yes vote on Thursday is not till the 24th of March 2016. Plenty of time to sort things out, IF there is a yes vote. Let's wait and see.

I had noticed this too Sosidge.....lol.
"PS Alex Salmond has been conspicuously avoiding the debate on the affiliation of RC racers, I suspect he realises that the passions roused by pride in the BRCA that could throw the "Yes" campaign into disarray." The only thing I would see changing is the omission of the Scottish regional bits. As h0m3sy says, we will wait and see, it may be a No vote. Col. |

Well there was an SRCA before but it was purely for the organization of the Regional Touring Car series when tourers were still the big thing up here. Unlike you guys down south we only really have enough drivers for one large regional (national) series for one type of car at a time.

Mark it wont affect the name or anyone who is racing in Britain except it may affect the Scottish.
If the BRCA chair decide then it could be that Scotland is excluded from the membership. That really depends on how they feel about The scenario. Its the same for the pound the national Health etc etc. Scotland could still be included in all but if the powers in charge of those see an excuse to improve the rest of Britain by doing so they will. or maybe if they hold a grudge!!! Looking at percentage of Scots v Health issues i think the national health could well be pulled from Scotland. |

So, let's move on...
If the Westminster machine has promised to devolve more powers to Scotland, then what powers are the Exec going to devolve to the Scottish Clubs? Will they get the power to use their own lap-counting systems, set up their own PL insurance, or have additional fee-raising powers? Or am I just mistaking you all for people who give a damn...?!!! |

I think this thread can be closed now as they OP asked what would happen regarding the BRCA should Scotland go independent. We now know that will not be the case so it will not affect the BRCA.
