Default Exzes lipo charging

Hi Guys,
I’ve just purchased a 2s lipo for Exzes X but am a bit confused on how to balance charge it. I asked the SMD if they could help but they replied that they couldn’t because they do not sell my type of charger - which is a Orion IQ605.
The Lipo has 3 leads coming from it which are from left to right (see attachment)
1) Unknown lead (perhaps a different type of balance connector?)
2) Futaba style radio plug (I know this type fits into the rear of the transmitter ok)
3) JST-XH balance connector.

I’m assuming I need to make up a female Futaba lead and connect that to the output of the charger and plug the JST lead into the 2S balance port of the charger too. But is something missing? Don’t I need another lead coming from the 1S?

Another thing that confuses me is that there is a sticker on the JST lead that reads ‘Charge Port’ when I would have expected that to say ‘Balance Port’
Any help would be appreciated.
Mark.

Hi,

You need something like this to plug into the charger and charge the pack:

(link: http://etronix-rc.com/etronix-futaba...er_name=futaba)

Does this help with the pack?

Balance plug is the same as a 2s racing pack. So plug in the same as if you were to balance a race pack.

Plug in the charge plug, plug in the balance lead, set the charger to a balance charge at a 1c rate, 2.6a from the photo.

Cheers Mick, I appreciate the time you have taken out to help me

I hear what you are saying, it's basically what I was thinking EXCEPT this is my concern.

Have a look at my race pack charging. It's got a charge lead and a balance lead however there are 3 wires going to the balance plug. The third wire goes back to the lipo. The receiver pack I have only has a red and black lead going to the balance board....

Hi,

Think your getting a little confused.
(Some transmitter pack have extra leads.)

The pack has three sets of connections. I have some transmitter packs with a similar setup.

1) Unknown lead (perhaps a different type of balance connector?)
A small white connector with two leads, (I think it's JR connection, I just ignore it.)

2) Futaba style radio plug (I know this type fits into the rear of the transmitter ok)
A black, servo type plug, with two leads, red/black. This is what you plug into the radio. You also use this for charging the pack. Basically it's the positive / negative connection of the pack.

3) JST-XH balance connector.
This is the balance connector for the pack, if it's a 2s pack it will have 3 wires into it. You connect this in to the balance port of the charger.

Let me know if this makes things clearer.

That's the issue Mick.

It's a 2S lipo but the JST balance connector only has 2 wires coming off it....

There are 3 wires coming out of the balance lead on your lipo though?

In your photo you will be using the shortest lead coming out of the lipo as the balance lead, the one with 3 wires on it, the one on the far left is unused, as Mick says.
