Default SP V3 10.5t & SP 2.1 ESC

Hi Guys,

Right this weekend is going to be the first time I have ever run SP ESC & I'm little bit worried don't want to fry anything.

All these functions are newbie to me worried I may have it set wrong or need to change it.

Right so this is what I currently have setup -

Software: V1.07_110119
1: Running Mode = For/Brake
2: Drag Brake = Custom 11%
3: Voltage Protection = 3.0V/cell
4: "DRRS" Punch = Level 3
5: Brake Force = 62.5
6: Reverse Force = 25%
7: Initial Brake = Drag Brake
8: Neutral Range = 9%
9: Boost Timing = 0
10: Turbo Slope = 24
11: Overheat Protection = Disable
12: Turbo Timing = 0
14: Turbo Delay = Off

The car is RB5 SP2 with SP V3 10.5 with 27t pinion which is what I worked out on due to the size of the straight.

The spur on the RB5 is 78t too.

What else do I need to do or shall I just see how things go?

With this setup will it give me more top end speed or do I need to change something on the settings?

Just worried may have it wrong just wasted my monies

Thanks

you need to enable heat protection and increase reverse force to 100% (it affects the brakes even if reverse is disabled like you have it)
Rest looks good. I ran a 13.5t in my x2c last worksop round and it was excellent. I used a 26t pinion but i had the turbo timing and boost timing setup.
You got the wc edition rob?

Cheers buddy will make the changes.

No not had the time this year to race so still got my SP2 but my RB5 SP2 is fully optioned more than the WC kit anyways lol.....

All I want is the new slipper system be sorted.

So with the turbo & boost turned up will this give me more top end?

Yes mate. but you need to go a bit lower on the pinion if you do that. My settngs are quite mild but they work very well. Im going to up the turbo timing a little for worksop because last time i ran out of puff a bit too soon on the straight. It feels nice running a slower motor with boost at the top end because more of the throttle becomes uasable low down.
If your doing worksop and want to try my settings just come and find me mate. I cant remember what mine are off the top of my head

Yeah that sounds cool.

This is why I have gone to 10.5t motor as I like to see how it goes.

I run exact same ESC mate, and only thing I would change from what you have already been advised is to increase the low voltage protection of the lipo cells.
3.0v is a bit low IMHO.
Mine is set to 3.2

Apart from that, looks fine I think.
GOod luck chum!

EDIT --- just saw that your drag brake is up too (from my setting of 5%). Your 11% will be fine, but as you probably know, a higher drag brake will increase heat on the motor, so just keep your eye to it. Only reason I say this is your pinion is quite large, so your FDR might be quite low. Sorry - prob teaching my granny to suck eggs.

Thanks for that right I have changed my drag brake to 0

Also on this software I only have the option to adjust the Turbo Open Time & Turbo Timing & Turbo Open Delay.

Turbo Open Time - 24Deg/0.1sec
Turbo Timing - 10Deg
Turbo Open Delay - 0.8sec

So hat do I need to change on this to give more top end?

It's confused me why can't it be so simple

Hey Matty,
Did you get the turbo settings sorted?

I saw exactly the same thing on my ESC when I updated the software to the latest MOD version.

The only thing is, Im not sure my ESC can actually cope with these as its just the LPF version and not the PRO.
I know the PRO version comes with all this Timing Boost capability, but not sure of the LPF's abilities.

Whats your thoughts on the Timing Boost?
P.S. and I totally agree with you chum - the manual sucks and it could have been so much more simple software to use!

I would increase the Turbo Open Time, otherwise it'll all come in very quickly causing wheelies and slides. Something like 6deg/0.1s would be a bit softer.

And for more top end either just gear up, or add more Turbo Timing. I run 20deg on a 10.5.
