Have I lost the plot or does this make sense?
I'm looking at selling my SV and replacing it with a 410R and doing a bit of a VERY basic conversion to 2wd. Basically taking out the front diff and shafts from the slipper forward (not sure what I can do about the front wheels though).
I reckon that with a bit of weight in the right places (I don't know yet what it should be for 2wd) it should trundle round a track ok. To be honest I'm not that into or very good at 2wd and I do it as an extra at the meeting. I tend to go safely round and wait for others to crash so I imagine I could do that in more or less anything. I'd have a full reserve car in case of any eventuality in the 4wd with my 410 and can just use/buy the same spares. Does anyone have any other advice or input on what I need to do to go 2wd or can let me know if I've missed something glaringly obvious. |

hi ..it would make more sense to me to get a B4 rather than use a durango for two wheel drive ..after all its not designed for 2 wheels ..may be it will work ...but seriously id buy i would not do it

I agree it's not the optimum route, if I was to go normal 2wd though I'd just keep the Cougar. The problem is it's lodged in my mind now and I can't get rid of it. Everyone I've mentioned it too has said it's a bad idea and I think I'm sharp enough to see that but ........

wont work not enough kick up at the front, and way to many other things to go on about, not to mention the cost, seems silly imho

I think that answers my question now, I've got no doubt I'll thank you all some day. I'll probably not go into my plan to convert the Cougar to 4wd, maybe a step too far.
