Default New NiMhs to replace old NiCads ?

Hello,

Recently found my old Kyosho Optima Mid.

It has old NiCads which last about 1 minute!

What new NiMh batteries could I run in it without frying my old electrics?

My old batteries are rated 7.2 1290mAh

The electrics should handle any 7.2v NiXX or 7.4V LiPo pack. The mAh is just a measure of capacity. Packs are maybe slightly physically bigger now than they were in the 80s because the cells got fatter and longer, but it is a matter of millimetres and shouldn't stop a modern pack from fitting.

lipo saddle or sticks should fit straight in with current mountings.
The old electrics will run fine off lipo but won't have a low voltage cutoff so be careful (or get a novak smartstop or similar)
