How 'open' is the rear of the S500? because if it is (Diff is visible) then i would gladly take a geared diff over a ball diff anyday. I need to rebuild the diff in my S400 every 2 nights, imagine on an offroad track its going to be more then that, geared diff takes all that away.

Thanks for clearing some things up mark but what is the advantage of having one if you already have a well built and functioning ball diff

Perhaps they also want to sell it in the U.S. where no one runs one-ways? At least on the west coast...

make it tighter than a ball diff with out risking bolts snapping, balls flatting or wearing etc wont go out off adjustment your well built ball diff will sealed unit (ok it would be in a sealed gear box but the s400 is not) on road is far more finicky than off road (electric) and they are seeing the benifits

Now, in the rear, I wouldn't mind sacrificing a few grammes for an indestructable gear diff.... especially on a shaft drive car. (90° gear reductions make no sense whatsover when combined with a ball diff!) |

Question for mark. Have the tc drivers encounted any problems with the new geared diffs? As you have said it's more finiky in a tc so if it's been ok in this then i should imagine it would be ok in the buggy. So looking forward to this car coming out
