Yea I wouldnt personally use anything but a wacom tablet, I have two so I can say that tho I guess. they are expensive tho but I didn't pay for either of mine so its all good.
The cintiq wacom which is has a screen built in is the ultimate though, but way too expensive.  About 2.5 grand. Still, you could make your money back on it I guess just by drawing. The Cintiq and a copy of alias sketchbook pro and photoshop - you are laughing. (p.s. if anyone wants to buy me one, feel free!
