That explains it, i thought it was somewhere in England because of the flag, but it didnt sound very English! It must be a Northern Ireland flag

Liking the industrual one Pete, where is it?

We have an old cotton mill just up the road here, it's currently being demolished after a fire last month - I may go up later on.

Liverpool dock road, as Scouser said - took a wrong turn (ended up in Liverpool - joke!) and found this - a happy accident indeed.

Do it!

Oh, and the Karmann Ghia I looked at with a mate? Very nice indeed. Here it is stashed inconsiderately in a damp lockup in East Yorkshire...

thanks for that, respect your opinion as your shots are really good
they're just jpegs straight out of the camera.
i bought a new compact the other week & i'm just starting to use it
i did take a few similar shots using slightly different settings/modes but i really need to just spend time experimenting til i find what works or looks best
i do also have the option of shooting in raw but i might save that for when i can spend more time on each image, and have learned how to use the software

that old hopper had some good colours going on but most pics it came out dark as the sky was SO bright behind it. like i said i just need to try things out

Sweet pics as usual, does everyone take their camera's out with them when they go out?
or do you just know where to go?

its often been said that it doesn't matter how many thousands of pounds worth of gear you own. the best camera at any given time is the one that you actually have with you

my pics were taken with a compact

if you're going somewhere specifically to take photos then a DSLR & lens selection can't be beaten
you will have options for getting awesome photos in every situation

however if like me you're going somewhere for another reason (lets say racing) you already have too much stuff with you anyway! in which case a decent compact fits the bill perfectly.
i can leave it on auto & just get "snaps" of people around the pits or fiddle with the settings & try for something a bit more ambitious if the time shedule allows

the pics in this gallery were from a borrowed 5MP camera just left in Auto mode
http://www.neobuggy.net/modules/xcga...bum=153&page=1

not outstanding but some OK shots in there

many keen photographers have a compact that they will always carry so they will always have an opportunity to capture that spontaneous shot!
check out the review of "enthusiast" compacts at DPReview
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q408enthusiastgroup/

should be something in there you fancy

For me, i only got into photography about 3 years ago. Artwork was always one of my hobbies and the photography was a way of capturing images for me to convert to pencil drawings later on. I only tend to take my camera out if its a big race meeting or something or if someone asks me for pictures. I did some work for a group of Motorcycle stunt riders a few years ago.. that was mega fun!!
