I saw april/may as a release date on a swedish site, and about half the price

The sites (in swedish)

i held and photgraphed one yesterday (sorry the pics are for a magazine so i wont release them till there in the mag as requested by TD) but i think i can say keep an eye on the durango site soon and the price will be pleasing!

it looked excellent and id not consider it a budget racer, this will be popular and what is included will suprize many who thought Durango would make it "cheap" as in whats fitted!

I had a looksy at the 'R' too. Very nice for what it will cost. Deffo not a 'budget bodge' just to reduce the cost.
It looks very sleek and stylish, and should perform just as good as the original.

Anyone giving a hint on how it's made?

I figure replacing all the alloy with plastic (except for the motor/spur mount and maybe shocks) would be about right...

Comments?

There are details on the Team Durango blog now, £210+VAT (£246.75), with release at the end of April.

I wonder how many parts from the R maybe used on the non-R as tuning options. I like my non-R exactly the way it is but an area I am thinking of is to replace the aluminium side plates with plastic equivalents so as to introduce a little more chassis flex.

i think the frame chassis is in carbon or all in one moulded like a B4...

is the only way to reduce the price.

Carbon would actually be more expensive I think, because they'd either have to lay it up in a mould with the front and rear kick ups or make separate front and rear plastic kick ups.

I'd bet on plastic, maybe a moulded plastic tub like most other buggies but we'll find out next week- Unless one of the schnorbits that keeps bragging they know share it first...

I hope not, remember the Aero A-one? at first it was a rip off of an earlier Durango, but it worked, Lee Martin won the National title with it, then they made a plastic tub chassis for it, and it stopped working after that.

I'm thinking metal chassis, plastic side pods.

Plus if you don't get extra anti-squat brackets, roll bars etc in the kit, plus swap a few metal parts like the servo mount for plastic, that would all help keep costs down.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, been thinking of getting a second DEX as a spare car as it is, a cheaper one might fit the bill perfectly

Apparently John is right, I've now read the alloy chassis is retained from someone that's seen the car practicing at Yatabe apparently.

And now seen pictures of the prototype showing a milled aluminium chassis with plastic sidepods, platic front uprights and steering servo mount. All CVD's changed to 2.0mm pins, so I guess the only question left it ball diff or gear.

All the parts should be interchangable between the two cars. Its only the materials used that is the difference.

....although I could be wrong.

Sad thing is, if TD actually produced these, I'd buy one, just for the bling factor!
