Yes. Should just buy a job lot from a bearing/nut/bolt supplier. It's a stock size. Should cost Pennies (if you buy 100 at a time)
Pretty sure neither manufacturer are daft enough or rich enough to tool up a special circlip for the tiny volumes they make. minimum order is probably a million clips..... |

Hi its an 8mm internal circlip, I bought 10 from my local ironmonger for 70p, fits perfectly, ran all last Sunday, no problems.

I couldn't feel any diff on the cir clip so just built the diff as is and had no probs. Only change - RC lazy balls.
Will wait for TD to do a tips article.... Gear diff longer term though. |

First time with a ball differential and i am confused. Below is what happens with mine.
When i turn the one wheel forward the other is moving forward also. What is happening? Is this a problem? Should the other wheel turn to the opposite direction as the gera diff? When i hold the spur and one wheel, the other does not spin which is correct if i am not wrong. |

If you hold the spur and turn one wheel, the other wheel should rotate in the opposite direction. If you hold the spur and one wheel, and try to turn the second wheel, there should be a good amount of resistance before you can make the diff slip / second wheel rotate.
Also, when the wheel does turn, it is useful to identify whether it is the diff which is slipping or the actual slipper on the spur. You'll obviously need to have the spur gear removed to hold the spur, so you should see if the actual slipper is slipping.. Last edited by Dazzler; 02-11-2011 at 10:31 AM. Reason: More info. |

No both wheels turn the same dirrection when i spin only one

I'm struggling to see how that can happen if you are holding the spur gear preventing it from rotating, then turning one wheel by hand... if the diff was not right, you'd probably see a poor / rough counter rotation, or nothing at all.
Other than that, you'd have to have locked the two outdrives together somehow, without applying pressure to the diff balls.. This would mean you would have no drive either... |

When I hold the spur everything is fine. The problem is when i do not hold the spur. just spin one wheel forward----> the other one move forward too. (Is this the case where the balls are not spinning but just rub against the plates? |

Means that there is more drag in the diff than there is resistance to the spur turning. Happens on all diffs.
(When both wheels turn in the same direction, your spur is rotating too, right?) |

That sounds normal really, the drive train will try to rotate if you are running a tight diff. Have you tried holding the spur and one wheel, then trying to rotate the other?

Yes. But i have not test what Dazzler says :"If you hold the spur and turn one wheel, the other wheel should rotate in the opposite direction" |

I guess the diff is too tight. I'll try the above to see if everything is ok. |

That doesn't necessarily mean its too tight... But what you need to do is make sure that your slipper slips before the diff slips, and that the slipper doesn't slip too much on acceleration.. So I wouldn't back it off just yet..

How can i do this? |

As posted above, hold firm the spur and one wheel, then try to turn the second wheel. This will load up the drive train, and either the diff will slip, or the slipper on the spur will slip. You can see the slipper on the spur, so if this isn't slipping, the diff is.
