Default VW Golf 1.4 TSI GT

Im looking getting the wife a new car, well not new but used. Where looking at a Mk5/6 Golf with the 160 or 170Ps 1.4 TSI engine.

Does anyone know of issues i should be looking for with these engines, i've had the Mk5 golf so i know there ok, its just the engine i don't know about.

Cheers

Ross

Hi
I have a 1.4TSI with DSG.
Have so far done 35k km.
They go pretty well, but do seem a bit heavy on fuel.

shameless plug: i'm selling my 2011 polo bluemotion to raise funds for a house deposit.

65mpg, cruise control, nil road tax

absolutely bugger all power compared to the golf you mention though

be careful as this engine in other platforms running slightly higher power have had big issues.
things to look for are missfires, lots of oil useage etc.
car should have had a few recalls too for coilpacks and ecu software updates
