Default Parts that break/wear/etc

Hi all,
Got a used BJ4 WE coming for an event I am doing here in Calgary, and as some of you know the track here is rough with some HUGE jumps.
My problem is, that as far as I know, no one else here has a BJ4, so I won't be able to scrounge any parts, so I'm on my own.
So, what has anyone broken? or what wears out?
Basically what should I get in the way of spares?

thanks
Stu

Front wishbones and front driveshafts (you can buy the dogbone on its own) maybe a spare spur gear and a set of gears is about it really other than maybe the front shock tower, unless you are using the thicker atomic carbon one

Also check the car to see if it has the tapered outdrive springs fitted between the driveshaft and the one way outdrive, this should stop the bending and breaking of the driveshafts but i have not fully tested them yet.

And set the slipper right as this will save the transmission if you are making big jumps etc.

From experience, you may want to get some steering posts as these seem to go on the thread part in the steering arm itself if you have a bad crash as there is no servo saver!!! you can tell if it breaks as the steering feels weird but it dosent fall apart so you can finish a race with it!! would strongly recomend using the Atomic front tower!! there excellent!

Would say a spare set of the Losi steering arms as they do go now and then, but other than what Old Timer said cant think of much else

I should be taking the BJ4 to the euros, the only spares I have are the front tower and wishbones. I have heard of the front driveshafts going if you are running a one way diff, but like Jonathan says, if you have the springs in the outdrives I think that solves that problem.

Speaking of, how much do I cut down some V2 motor springs to fit these out drives ?

Hi Jimmy, you were missed at the Juniors and Veterans this weekend Mate!!!! no pictures of the racing

Ive just measured my springs and they are 5mm high but they are larger than the v2 springs and they taper down quite a bit, trouble is they are not cheap. If you want can send you my spare springs that ive got for your car?

Let me know if you need any shock towers and a rear top deck Jimmy, i have some spare outdrive springs as well if you need them.

I have only done one meeting with them in, no bent driveshafts so far.

You were not kidding about the A.C. front shock tower being thicker !!
WOW !

Last question though, the springs are for where? the front diff outdrives?

The springs go between the front dogbone and the one way outdrive, if you are using a diff at the front you don't need the springs.

There not that thick only 4mm

Default Aluminum Front arms?

I heard that at least one guy at the euros where running aluminum front arms on his BJ4WE. Since that he had not broken any arms or other stuff in the front end for that matter.

Does anyone know where it is possible to get those?

Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

A couple of lads over here run them, the ones I have seen were the alloy B4 ones from the likes of GPM. I'm not sure how the b4 ones mount up to the new style bulkhead on the worlds edition though ??

I broke a few wishbones in austria since the pipes were unforgiving.

Stop hitting the pipes then ?!

I have my big event this weekend, so we'll see how the car holds up and performs.

Back home from the Canadian Nationals.
Triple A mains, + 3 rounds of qualifying, on quite possibly the roughest, toughest, bumpiest, cut up track I have ever run on, and did not break one thing !! only issue I had in one qualifier was toasting a motor and having the wires de-solder ! mind you it was + 28 degrees at the time !

Ended up placing second overall, so a very successful first outing !
The car was great, some little changes helped, but the biggest thing was just avoiding the worst of the bumps. Although there are a couple of very large jumps on the track, and the car was starting to make some gear crunch type noises, but a couple of TC3 gear sets will sort that right out again!!

All in all, Great car !! of the other main runners at this event, both ZX-5 broke stuff, as did the other 3 XXX4s ! nothing on the BJ broke !

Well done

The sliper setting on the WE is quite critical, if you lock it up it is possible to lunch the rear gearbox after a while. The white slipper pads make the slipper easier to adjust, there's also some new slipper parts on the way.

I hear the slipper pads are a rolling update, some times you will get the yellow ones sometimes the white ones, depends if your lhs has any old stock.

Jimmy i always thread lock the slipper nut when i build it up 1/2 or 3/4 turns backed off from full tight.

Good to hear Jconecpts are still working on improveing the car, once the slipper is sorted just need some HD front dogbones.

Nice going stu

yeah tom rebuilt my slipper using some decent threadlock and so far its held up well, still, not sure what sort of pounding the rear gearbox is taking since the slipper is quite tight.

btw jonathan, I ran the Evo stuff on my bj4 yesterday and the car was great. I finished 3rd, 2nd, 2nd and 1st in my races. Not sure about the first 2 but in the last 2 races I had the fastest laps against some good F2 drivers

Only problem using the threadlock is you need to leave it overnight for it to go off.

Good to hear the new parts worked well, did you use the AE or Losi shocks ?

Btw i will have the tub tomorrow
