Default Gear Ratio for Hot Bodies Cyclone Andy Moore Edition

Guys,

What can you recommend for a gear ratio for a 13.0 and 13.5 turn brushless motor. Thanks.

I'm not sure what your 13.0 motor is, but I can help a little with gearing a 13.5... only a little mind you.

Gearing has become a minefield with brushless. Depending on what ESC settings you have, the gear ratio can be wildly different. Different motors respond to slightly different gearing as well, although that was always the case with brushed too.

I can tell you that my Speed Passion v3 13.5, running 10deg timing, combined with the Much-More Fleta 3.0 (aka Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro) ESC running the 312 profile on default settings, runs well at 5.3:1 on a 32x16m track, and that 6:1 is more suitable on a 16x8m track.

Best advice is to check temps after the run. Gear conservatively at first so you don't blow the motor, then gear up for performance without the temps going too high.
