Default Help some Newbies! Midwest Regionals

Hello!

Now that the regional dates are announced, myself and Westw00d are planning our summer.

I'll be running at both the 2WD and 4WD rounds, (excluding June 15th 2WD Stoke, and Aug 10th, 4WD Shrewsbury), and I've got loads of questions...

1. Are entries limited? if so, do I need to enter quickly to guarantee an entry?

2. Does anyone have postcodes for the following tracks;

Coventry
Ledbury
Kidderminster
Stoke
Oswestry
Dudley
Marston
East Shrewsbury

8 new venues for me! can't wait!

3. When will the control tyres be announces? are 2WD front's an open choice?

4. can you run a 2WD on the 4WD events?

5. Do most people use generators? or 12V batteries?

6. what is the race format? practise, 3 qualifiers, 2 finals?

7. What is a typical start time?

8. I guess gazebo's / tents are common? is there anything else that is advisable for my first season of outdoor racing?

9. As we are allowed to use cells off the 2007 EB list, could anyone find me a 2007 list? I can't find it. or, can anyone confirm if GrePow Kapow 4200's are on the list? Also, A friend of mine uses Much More 3800 stick packs? are these homologated? The addition to rule 2.4, iirc, states stick packs in factory heatshrink are ok up to 3700's?

10. If anyone's got any waterproofing tips, I'd be grateful!

Thank you very much!

Chris.

Chris. where are you and westie based.
Most of the addresses can be found hear. http://www.brca-midwest.co.uk/
Don't think entries are limited.
Most racers are changing to generators.
Start time around 8.30am.
I would get a Gazebo.

Cheers Mark.

Both Westw00d and I live in Belmont, in Hereford (Not together! ). Not far from yourself if I remember correctly?

8.30 start seems good! no need for silly early mornings!

Thanks.

Allright guys,

I will most likely be doing 2wd for definate, and yes front tyres are open, although you will only need Schumey Green and Yellow Slim minispikes, and maybe BBG spikes for Kidderminster. Most people run generators, although I charge up the night before. This has only caught me out once, where I made the 'A' final in 10th overall(4wd Kiddy last year), through no choice of my own! I had to end up borrowing packs... with some help from Paul Worsley.

You will be okay with 6 packs, or 3 charged up, then re-peaked after the first run on each pack for the second run. (1 practice, 4 qually's and a final).

I can email you the details from Phil Sleigh.

I will be at Hereford helping out for the 12th Nat, or on the 29th Feb if you want to ask anything.
Cheers
Mark

you can run 2wd in 4wd class but you need to add weight to get it over the 4wd weight limit, or normally you have an open class heat where you could enter as a normal 2wd at 4wd events

Cheers Mark & Mark. There is enough info on the mid-west site for now.

I'll source a generator I think, as I don't really want to buy 6 sets of cells for this season.

would 2 sets of tyres per meeting be ok? i guess it depends on the conditions?

See you on Friday 15th (Mark W).

Chris.

you don't need 6 set's of cell's, i run with 3 packs off a 12v, make sure 1 set is charged for practise, put a set of charge when you arrive and the do them throughout the day. ive done it that way for 4 year no problem

Yes, true. Unfortunately, I'd need to buy a leisure battery and a charger, I may as well buy a generator instead?

I was referring to Mark's post about charging the night before.
