Default 2wd buggy future predictions anyone?

Do you think we will see mid-engined 2wd buggies like the x-6 and S-2 buggies being designed for future releases from associated, losi/horizon, and kyosho?

I was thinking we were due for a B5. The T5 was released recently and the B4 appears to be getting on a bit.

Another reason to hold off re-starting the hobby

Expecting pictures of the HB 2wd any day now. There is already mention of it on their website.

AE never takes risks with their designs. I don't see them changing their 2WD anytime soon unless
- they get beat at every major race by alternative designs (X-6, S2...)
- light lipo packs become race-legal and mainstream.

I don't have a clue for Tamiya and HB but they seem to like proven designs rather than innovative stuff.

VintageRacer : T5 Maybe you were refering to the TC5 (Touring car) ?

Didn't the B4 just win the worlds?
They might have a design on the go, but (as previously mentioned) can't see AE releasing a new car when the old one is still so good

You're right TC5 is what I meant. If I recall the magazine article correctly, AE changed from shaft to belt drive in this car so maybe they are open to changes? Or were they being beaten by belt drive cars?

I "think" the team xtreme (formerly T.Tech) 2wd car will be a mid motor design...at least that is what Richard implied during a conversation we had about 4 months ago...

Will serpent design a new 2WD with Gerd? How many new 2WD (protos included) we will see next year?
I like to see too many manufacturers in 2WD A finals as 4WD.

Can we see them next year?

Academy
Asso B5?
RB5 upgrade?
X-6 Upgrade?
S2 production?
HB 2WD
TTech 2WD?
Serpent 2WD?
Aero 2WD? Will they think about it?
Tamiya 2WD? Hummm. They must offer more competition support.
Yokomo 2WD? Now asso has 4WD.

Seems to be a dream, but not imposible. Will lipo break electric market sales?

I think it's far easier to make a fast 4wd, rather than a fast 2wd, just look at the Schumacher blade

I don't think you will see anything from the major player (AE) although I reckon there will be more 'conversions' and some new boys jumping on the wagon.

If AE do anything it will be to refine parts rather than a whole new car, the TC5 was needed as the TC4 was just not up to it. But the B4 is still at the top, so would you really change it unless you had something worthwhile to change it to?

academy is shipping there's this month. I don't think you will see something serious from Tamiya as yet.

Agree on that - the B4's still flying and winning most events out there, the Losi XXX hasn't "really" changed much since 1999 when it came out - just refinements like geometry changes etc, the basic chassis & layout is the same.

It's hard to see any massive improvement or big change to be honest as these mid motor designs obviously aren't a step forward, just an alternative.

I think the days of major changes are gone, the change from RC10 to RC10 B2 was massive and it won comfortably first time out.

Nowadays it seems to be more about refinement then big revolutionary changes (in 2wd at least)!

Only a huge change in track style will yield a change of car.

Although a narrower B4 chassis could be made. But that's nothing.

Elliott.
