Dan, it's much better than xx4 - as it is a proper one way bearing rather than ratchet like xx4 is, but yeah you have the idea.

Dan, I don't think so, 'cause due to my job I plan to move at the beginning of 2009 with my wife and children. There will be lot of things to manage else than RC stuff

Hi Bruno !!!
During my X-5 period, I was thinking about a thrust bearing in each oneway outdrive, plus some Belleville washers in one of the outdrive, and a long screw through all these parts. As for friction function, what about two thin PTFE washer between each outdrive an oneway body ? This way we can expect to have same friction effect on left and right side I agree the thickness of thrust bearing + Belleville washers + head screw could be enormous regarding the available space
