Well, the prizes here are the trophy and plaque, and we had lucky draw. I won a Can of RC spray cleaner and a Sworks pit mat.
However the most satisfaction was driving my Optima Mid and making 6 laps at this huge track without breakage and showing the new cars a thing or two. The 1st place winner kept saying how quiet my car was and it was quick and performed well. Before this they did not take me or my Mid seriously. I qualified 5th on Saturday , with 5 laps only, but really managed to get good lap times on sunday after I increased - camber all around to prevent the tires from digging into the ruts and overturning, tightening my clutch a little to gain more speed, increasing my motor timing to the max, and changing my driving lines. All those changes and I got 1 additional lap from 5 laps.

Thanks guys. There will be another race in august on a different track. So far I have only driven once there and found the traction far far worse than at this track. The J concepts were useless there, and I hope the ZXR tyres will work. This time however, there will be a lot more 4WDs racing with top drivers so I will be lucky to get into the A main, which is my target.
There are no other vintage racers to go against so I have to pit my car against the modern ones. I will squeeze some practice and hopefully able to get a right setup for that tight track.

Congrats on a fine result, and this shows it's still a competitive car in the right hands.

I was running a Hobbyking 100A ESC with 8.5T brushless sensored motor. The ESC has some timing adjustment and I maxed it out. As for batteries its Turnigy nanotech 5100mah saddle packs. Radio is Sanwa MX3X 2.4Ghz. Servo Sanwa ERG ZZ. Spur gear is associated b4 81T and pinion 24T.

I am not too sure how the original Optima Mid will fare against modern cars, but mine has been extensively modified.
1. My custom layshaft that uses Associated B4 slipper clutch and spur gears.
2. Lazer ZX-R shock towers.
3. Modern kyosho big bores.
4. My own machined Lazer ZX arms made out of delrin with minimal cutouts to increase strength, and it works ! no breakage.
5. My own made Lazer ZX C hub made out of super hard PEEK plastic, and height increased to 22mm so that I can use ZX-5 knuckles.
6. Modern kyosho ball cups and studs, mixed with X ray touring car rod ends for the rear hub to prevent popping off.
7. Lastly The Lazer ZX-R/ZX-5 tyres really helped the car grip on the damp track, no one else had these tyres !
