Sat nav recommendations
Hi
I’m finally getting fed up of using print offs from google maps for driving directions. Can anyone recommend a good in-car sat nav system? Currently having a look at the range on amazon, but it makes me befuddled.

Walk into Halfrauds and buy the first one you see.
Then when some-one else does a thread like this in a few months you can claim that yours is the best. Harsh? Probably but I doubt if anyone has tried every model ( or even make) on the market so will promote what they own. Speak to the people that sell them for living - it's the only way to get a true feel.

Nokia Maps - totally free (if you have a decent Nokia phone that is).

when you do get one you can use google maps to send to your device so long as they support it

I let my lad have my tom tom for a few months and bought a binetone to replace it. Worst money I have ever spent. It takes longer to program it than to get there, doesnt compare to tom tom an any way.
Buy the best you can afford. Go to the shop for recommendation thensee what ebay have got. I saved a fortune on my bike satnav.

Garmin are a nice alternative to Tom Tom..I went for one. Its a bit more grown up than Tom Tom, but its up to you. I thought it felt better quality as well!

My personal top 3 for satnav:
In car nav (BMW or Mercedes) Tomtom Nokia Maps Now, considering the cost, the freeware Nokia maps is the winner, given that you have a compatible Nokia phone. If not and if you do not want to get a Nokia mobile, Tomtom is your best choice. The Tomtom range is widely recognised as one of the best satnav systems, regardless of the reviewers personal opinions. I used Tomtom for several years, but now use Nokia Maps. A new BMW or MB might be over your budget.

if you have a smart phone (i phone, htc etc) you can add tom tom and all mainland europe maps for about £30 if you dont have a phone with in built gps you can get a bluetooth gps devise for around £10,we have the latest tom tom on our smart phone with all europian maps, the usa maps and the thai map pack and we got all that for less that £40.if you know a computer whiz you can even get it free however i do not condone this.

I love Tom Tom, they do what you expect them to, they just work.
But, these days I'm using CoPilot on me iPhone, good enough for the twenty something quid . |
