OOO I'll have to add it to the Christmas list. Are they changing the bearing size too?

I like the wording of the gearbox in the ad. Are they finally admitting that the standard gearbox is made wrong

Oh well, I'll stick with my current gearbox CASE.

I like support Schumacher, becuase it's British and so forth, but mm... However it's not needed, so it's just like anything, pay you money take your choice.

£60 ha ha thats ace, standard one is crap so they make a decent one and charge a kings ramson to replace it. I think Shitemacher should replace them free of charge under warranty.

Having done some machining myself I don't think its that expensive. Its a exotic option that I am definately going to buy, and install my 30 pound RW gears in....wait I payed 30 pounds for some plastic gears, but wait they are the best available........Don't forget, you get what you pay for.

As much as I understand that racers will see this simply as a gearcase (which we are used to paying juts £8/10ish for in plastic) but at the high cost of £60, it is a very nicely machined large chunk of high quality alloy.....

Back in the day of the Cat 2000, it came with the plastic motor mount/rear housing which was quickly replaced by the solid alloy version which cost over £80 and almost "EVERYONES" Cat 2000 ended up fitted with one and that part (originally) came in just plain alloy and was not even anodised for that money (until they then did them in purple and they went up in price too), but people seemed to just accept it as an important tuning part back then......

I am not saying this is cheap, but it is a lot of "part" for the £60 they are asking....

I think the complaint doesn't come from the fact that it costs 60 pound, but from the fact that the plastic one is useless, meaning this part becomes a very needed option.

On the Cat 2000 the plastic part worked fine, I never had a problem with it... But it was a nice option to have it in ally.

I too have ran 10/12 meetings with my (2nd batch) sv and all the gearbox is totally std..never had any of the probs I hear others have had-apart from a little binding initially-which disappeared after a couple of runs.

I was told my diff would fall apart etc in no time blah blah-but I think if things are built correctly-there shouldnt be a problem.

I'm even using the stock turnbuckles!!!

I've probably put the scud on it now but so far so good

I haven't had a problem with my gears yet, just seems expensive.

Will be interested in the gears like they have done on the SX - shame I've sold my SX

I'm currently using the RW gear set with no issues.

I know a number of club members that have had issues with bearings etc. I've changed my gearbox bearings for rcbearings.co.uk ones and no probs.

Its quite easy to say something is expensive, What isn't Easy.. is the making of a product which involves many set up changes and is a complex piece.

Firstly the Retail is £59.98 for a Cougar SV rear gearbox Lets look at the CAT rear End.

U3329 LH Lower Gearbox housing £20.99
U3330 RH Lower Gearbox housing £20.99
U3555 upper transmission mounts £17.99

A Total of £59.97

Now wheres the complaints about that?
