John, just to fuel my curiosity..is there any reason why you chose the wider ST over the thinner Blaze at all?

Sorry you had to 'trim' your rear bumper! PS: Do you need my home address at all?

yeah PM me dude!
I think the car looks better without that rear bumper bit to be honest so it's all good! Got a trailing front arm kit on order to change the mini frog I have into another 'buggy champ' like I was racing, so vicky can race too! |

does the trailing arm setup work better Jim?

It's a lot better yes. Might not be modern or even perfect at all - but it's a big improvement I think. Gonna try and make a mod to move the lower shock mount back to help the shocks stiffen up under compression - at the moment the front end gets softer toward full compression.
Everything I said about the front end of the GB01 / frog in the review remains true - it's poo. |

Because thinking logically, a wider car will be more stable over bumps/ jumps and should be able to hold more corner speed.

Jimmy,
how did the GB02 compare against the 4wd buggies??? I'm thinking of getting a TamTech to race as a 2wd to help improve my 2wd style and almost ordered a Fox last week .... sort of glad I didn't now! Would really like to get my hands on a TamTech (GB01 and GB02 to look at and compare but nobody I know has either ) I bet that the GB02 could be made to handle with a few tweaks .... If I can get my hands on a GB01 car / front end I should be able to make a few bits to make it a little more conventional ...... {lathe and mill in the garage} Cosie, would be great if the results sheets showed what cars were used (along with motors etc.) as I am sure I am not alone in trying to pin down a shopping list!!! Loving the Exotek (assuming i can get a single 5 min run out of a servo that is!!!) but the rest of a kit is somewhat of a mystery! |

Do anybody use rubber TC tyres, either patterned or even something like Schmy rally blocks??
Not overly keen on foams due to the cost of getting them trued up (and the mess if you have a truer at home) |

I raced with mini pins on touring wheels when I raced the blaze - just missed out on the A - so it was good. I think Mr.Harris was running schumacher rally block or something - and he won!
GB01 would need a bit of work to make the front end viable I think - as soon as you compare the two side by side you can see how flimsy, flexible and bizzare the '01 car is. the buggy champ gb02 I was driving handled very well and I think there's more to come.. never gonna beat the top guys with a 4WD, but it was very good indeed |

Roger - Ill look into getting the cars on the results matey.
Why not look into the Losi Mini-T Pro if you are after 2WD?

Roger, get over to www.geckotyres.com and get a set of 30 shore fronts all round. Richard was a nice enough fellow to true mine down for me to 57mm.
There were a few people running various rubber tyres yesterday and I sometimes run Schumacher Carpet Dragons as well. |

I did indeed run rally blocks all round, they were just the right amount of grip.
Jimmy's GB02 was simply amazing!! I took the p*** out of it before practise but I (and many others) were amazed by how well it went. Only place it struggled was on the Lino (slippy floor) |

john did a video of it in the C final. I;m doing a write up on the hopped up car. The car had aeration dampers on the rear (AE 40wt) and CVA dampers on the front (losi 35wt). SC tyres all round, alloy rear diff, alloy turnbuckles and alloy ball studs. Tamiya Titanium screw kit. Futaba metal geared 12th servo. Graupner Speed300 motor. Tekin B1R esc.
I'll do the write up on those, but I do have some more stuff on the way which should be cool. Standard car with the speed300 and CVA shocks would be good tho. |
