Either than that, I think you have a good design there, incorporating the lazer zx-s's design.

My original concept was about the same. But omitting the bottom plastic mounting and extend the cf piece all the way to the bottom. and the diff will be held using flanged bearings. After that, 2 aluminum mounting brackets will be used to connect the gear box, the chassis and the rear pivot block.

Dimensions may be out fractionally, hence why I need the parts in front of me. Its a rough first attempt, I am still learning CAD unfortunately but I will get there soon hopefully.

Im using the ZXS approach for the rear tower mount but have done a basic calculation on the place it should be. The reason i didn't go down the route of extending the CF to the bottom was the cost of doing it, plus I fancied the ZXS design. I do think if you design your version as well it will be stunning.

Me, I find the ZXS very unusable on high grip tracks and on low grip incredibly stable and a superb drive and now understand why it won the Japanese title, however the ZXR and ZX handles superbly well on high grip and did this design mainly due to wanting to have the rear gearbox of the ZXS on board, as this stops belt breakage due to the tensioners inside and due to that resolves this cars issue. Handling with looks and almost zero maintenance on the rear belt is what I would appreciate.

Once I have the CF bits measured correctly I can figure out the design for the bottom section which will basically be a remolded ZXS gearbox section but shorter. I will post pics when I can build the proto items.

I understand that you like the Lazer zx-s design, but I do believe it would cost less if you omit the plastic part. As I have seen some where in some forum, "Even you if produce the mould in the darkest corner of China, it will still cost you an arm and a leg."

Plastic parts are super cheap, but it's the mould that suck you dry. That's is the reason why I am making the front gear box out of aluminum and CF.

Yes i see your point, but i do have a friend who is a mold specialist and lives in the UK. He makes all my white bits for my ZXS. He is going to make a mold of the plastic bottom gearbox parts which is why im doing this. Otherwise i would have done what your doing but nowhere near as good.

If your buddy is helping you. Ask him if he can make the plastic parts with GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) or FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic).

They are the toughest plastic there is, except for a few extremely expensive one.

I usually deal with mass producing companies. Therefore, If the quantity is small I would believe the price would be around $25/arm.

If I were to make around 50 sets, It would be around $5-10/arm.

But looking at pargu2000's ebay for the pivot block and the upper deck mount, he only sold the 4 pivot blocks and 3 upper deck mount. Thus, I don't believe I can sell enough to cover the initial cost.

If I were to make a set, it would be for a personal bling project.

I think i bought the first upper deck mount from pargu but i havent recived anything......... yet ....time will tell.

If you make parts for the lazer i will support you to ...i have 3 daughters and i guess they will have one each ....

When i made an body for the younger the oldest said that her rc10 was not as pretty so she wanted one to and ofcourse i bought 2 bodies and started collecting parts like the chassi from ema just in case and guess i was right....

50 sets of alu arms i think that it will be very very hard to sell them.

Nice!!!. Only one issue I see and thats the belt tensioner. Hold the car in the air and hit full throttle and see how the belt moves without the belt tensioner attached, then you will see why I opt for the tension above. Other than that its looking great and I know you will show how good the car is on dirt.

I like the metal motor plate. Very nice.

I am going to try and reproduce the motor plate with the heat sink, but I will anodize it blue.

I might even make the fins a little longer for better heat dissipation.

Blue will be the colour theme for this car. haha.
