Default Turnigy trackstar esc trouble shooting

Hi. I bought the above speedo a while ago and just got around to install it. Soldered the wires on and fitted it to a motor. When i switch on the power goes to the receiver and the steering servo works, but the speedo doe snot go into setup mode and all that happens is that the 3 led's flash. No button pressing changes this.

Can anybody tell me what this means?
It alos does this when i desolder the wires from the motor so i do not think it is a short or anything. Any clues?

Thanks in advance.

Tedje

Turn on and hold button on switch to enter programming mode - then follow instructions.

If the lights don't do as you expect - basically it may not acknowledge your input / button presses and hence not let you get to the end of the setup. If this happens - it's normally the reverse on the throttle on your TX that needs switching. Reverse it and try again.

I have tried with and without setup. Will try the tx reverse. The lack of a proper manual is a pain. Thanks.

Does anybody know where to find a manual. Apart from the hobbyking website?

Default I had a similar problem

Make sure the sensor wire is installed correctly.
Press down the set up button. Keep it pressed and turn it on.
When the yellow light comes on release the sett up button.

It worked for me

Good luck

Change the sensor wire, im pretty certain its broken! .... i run these esc's and that's what they do if your sensor cable is faulty!

swap it out and it should work!

Tried two different cables and still nothing. Surely both of them are not broken. Tve

just set the third one of mine up, are you sure you are pressing the setup button down? use a 1.5 mm hex driver as they are fiddly. As you can move the servo I am presuming you have bound the receiver to it ?

what tranny and receiver you using, I am sure someone had problems with a futaba with these ESC.

I did find the instructions on the web somewhere, but the hobbyking one does the trick. This is what I did

switch tranny on
press and hold set up button with 1.5mm hex driver
switch on ESC, hold set up until yellow light comes on (few seconds)
Leave tranny in neutral position yellow light is on, press set up button, light changes colour to red, pull full throttle, press set up button again, light changes to green, apply full brakes , press set up button again, then lights go back to yellow.

Your done, switch of ESC to save settings

hope you can get it sorted as I find these to be great ESC and have never let me down once, that's why I have them in three separate cars.

cheers Steve

How long have you had it? Can you send it back to hobbyking.
Are we talking about the turbo esc same as the absima esc? I had a couple of them and one gave up after getting wet and another went up in smoke after very little use.
Send it back and get the credits and get another one.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I will probably send it back.
Just a shame that there is no proper manual for this with proper fault diagnosis.
